Latest reports the Migrant train is progressing north with the help of the Mex. govt. group of over 7,000 is predicted to head to Tijuana. Many are hopping trains or hitching on trucks. Communities along the way are helping the northward travel. Will they pass through Penasco or on rt 2 if heading to Tijuana?? will some try to cross at Lukeville? could be a couple of interesting weeks .

With all the problems in Tijuana all of the border towns in Mexico may have a huge impact by this event. they certainly will not cross in large numbers but will present a challenge to Mexico rather than the US. I think as word of problems in Tijuana filters down, the other ports of entry will be swamped as well. this is truly an historic event and is reminiscent of similar events in Africa. this is a photo of only one of the caravans.

We drove the Mazatlán for 9 days. We checked everyday. We came back thru Nogales and there was no problem. The news in Mexico said they were crossing into CA. (Better benefits than AZ)

I am guessing that with the active social media the word will spread when Tijuana is packed and others will flow to some other port of entry,

Tijuana already packed. The port of entry is only processing 100 asylum applications per day. Dunno if that is by design or they can't handle more than that. Estimates say those already in town waiting have at least a 6 month backlog.

I think that 100 is a longstanding limit, not due to present circumstances. Another reason to head to a different port of entry. MIght only be a few waiting procession in Lukeville. Saw a report that some migrants were staying in Mexicali. Going there Thursday ., will check it out. This situation has the making of a monumental human disaster. If they come to Penasco I am going to try to set up a free medical clinic for the children. Always the innocent victims of the adults that have to suffer.

The first wave appeared to be mostly if not all young males. Always the most potentially difficult group.

On Nov. 1 at Kukeville, we had the following experience. We were diverted by 2 Customs cars, that blocked the entry thru the large canopy passage. We parked and when I got out of the car, I heard a loud police car siren and a bull-horn, blaring away "GET BACK-GET BACK". I then walked up towards the duty free store, at that moment a concussion bomb went off. The wife yelled, "you better get back in this car." Thru a chain link fence, I saw the following (a that time another concussion bomb went off}. It was a drill, preparing for a storming of the gates, by immigrants. The plastic round riot shields, where pushing customs and khaki dressed military about 40 in all, about,. Then a teargas container was dispensed (green in color, I'm sure the ingredients were inert.) siren wailing gas flowing concussion bombs going off, it lasted about 18 minutes. The hugh gates were then opened, and we headed for rp.

Yes. Had we arrived 15 minutes early, we would have missed the whole show. The border gates are huge, I've never noticed them before.

There was only about 3 cars diverted to service station lot. It would seem that we hit the border, just before gates were closed

We just drove back from Mazatlan. We were warned that we would have problems. We stayed at Hermisillo and left the next morning. Lots of Army on the road. We had no problem at all. We were stopped and everyone was very polite. We had a flat tire one year going to Mazatlan and about 4 Mexican Army guys changed the tire. Jack tired to give them money but all they wanted was water. Because we have owed in RP for so many years my husband has residence. By the way our 10 days in Mazatlan were wonderful. Stayed at Pueblo Bonita EB again.

Not many Migrantes in Penasco. State of Sonora hired busses to whisk them off to TJ and Mexicali.
