Tragic story. It seems like this situation has happened too often in Rocky Point over the years. The extreme receding tides and south blowing wind conditions at certain times of the day and year can create really dangerous conditions for swimmers and kayaks that are unique to the area...

For what it's worth, I've been drinking the Puerto Penasco city water (run through a reverse osmosis filter system) for the last 20 years without any problems.

One thought - Could Sonoyta make it illegal to cut the line and have the Sonoyta municipal police enforce it with the diligence they show with speeders? It could be a new revenue generator for them that most tourists would actually appreciate and support.
