You are exactly right. The economic & lifestyle damage versus deaths. Do we stay inside until we starve? Until our homes, jobs and lives are in shambles? If we stay at home then for how long? What if it takes 12 months? What if it takes two years? Having bureaucrats make arbitrary decisions and threaten imprisonment is extremely Nazi-esque.

COVID-19 Cases Increase Among Sonoran Health Care, Public Safety Workers

Sonoran health officials confirmed Monday that an additional 15 medical workers had tested positive for the coronavirus. In total,124 of Sonora’s 364 confirmed cases of Covid-19 are health care workers — about 34%.

"Even workers who are not in direct contact with patients are being infected because there aren't adequate protocols," said Sonora Health Department spokesman Gerardo Alvarez said during a press conference Monday.

So far, 45 doctors, 49 nurses, 3 lab technicians, a dentist and 26 health sector employees without direct patient contact have tested positive for the coronavirus in Sonora he said.

Public security personnel who interact frequently with citizens are also seeing high numbers of infections.

“Three coronavirus outbreaks have been identified among public security and military members in Sonora, where some of their close family members have also been infected," Sonora Health Secretary Enrique Clausen said.

More than two dozen confirmed coronavirus cases among police and military in Sonora, and many more have been quarantined to prevent the continued spread of the virus. And health officials are also investigating another possible outbreak at a military checkpoint in Querobabi, on Mexico's Highway 15 between Nogales and Hermosillo, Alvarez said.

Things are far worse in Penasco that I ever imagined. The reality is worse than RP's summary above. enforcement and medical and enforcement people are being decimated due to lack of protection.

One was released by demand of a high city official, but he had tested positive. He is out in town somewhere. the Doc that tested him is livid. This virus is virulent. He could infect thousands in a few days. The people are still working the parking lots at sams, BOdega, Ley , sans protection. I just passed the main Bomberos station, with 10 sitting in the street in a tight group no personal protection at all . talking . Word is still out that Mother's day will open for one day.

As suspected by some, the low hit rate in Penasco has been due to shipping suspected carriers and infected folk to Hermosillo, but Hermosillo is NOW Full and refusing transfers. Truthfully if I could I would get out of Penasco NOW.

I actually did find several hundred masks available but will not reveal where. I bought as many as I could and will buy more tomorrow for the front line Mexican workers. They are protecting our lives and deserve better.

Heard through the grapevine that they are reopening the town for those inside by May 16th,(but the sanitary filter will be there for 4 months or more) if not a Lawyer is arranging a protest with the people of Penasco. Don't hold me to this as it may be just gossip. At least it is something to look forward to. We are all tired of being confined. This is not written in stone and I do not have a link where this came from and will not disclose my source.

A local buddy said May 15 - June 1st will be when officials are going to announce their plans for opening. He also said May 15th locals will see some things re-opening as RP Life said. Still just speculation at this point.

For someone who claims to be scared to death of the Chinese virus, you sure do get around. Maybe stay home and quarantine yourself if you are so frightened Chicken Little.

The government will always intervene in ANY public health crisis. Tell me when you last saw a cigarette commercial on TV? Is the Tobacco Tax against your constitutional rights as well? Trolls... There is an conversation to be had about financial stability and when and how we re-open but ignoring facts and public health experts is juvenile. Testing and contact tracing is still the best hope! This isn't rocket science. You identify and then quarantine. It's worked wonders for a vast majority of infectious disease. It's basically the HALF BACK DRAW of infectious disease.

Idk but I heard the same for the people already living here. I also heard they will NOT open for nonresidents until after the Memorial day holiday. The last thing they need is a bunch of holiday people piling in from merica spreading the disease so

Well Joe, I've inserted a few info-bits over the last few weeks about my own experience with tropical malaria and the mid-east desert sand fly fever.

Since I was eighteen years old to current time I have spent my entire life in the tropics (aka JJ) and the deserts around the world.

I have been infected with malaria for many years and most certainly remember how I dealt with it. In the good old days upon arrival at some steaming wet tropical shit-hole the all knowing el jefes forced us to partake in the big flat white tabs called chloroquine (CG) in order to PROTECT you, not CURE you from the malaria blood parasite that I still suspect is not CURABLE since the little beggars live inside your blood cells and in order to kill the little beggars in your blood cells the blood cells would have to be killed as well. Kill the host in order to kill the parasite?? Sounds like today's GOV.COM plans don't it?

So do a little research so I don't drag this on for ten pages. The malaria event or episode occurs when the infected blood cells packed with the new crop of thousands of baby parasites all burst at once thru your entire body. The new crop of little beggars now are on their own to seek out a new blood cell, penetrate it and start a new brood. When the cell bursts it is also full of the leftover crap from the feeding of the previous little beggars. That crap from thousands upon thousands of bursting blood cells are pure poison the the human body and the effect on the body is what is known as a malarial episode. Begins small but as the parasite numbers take over the system each episode is grander than the last to the point that the host might just die from it.

Many moons ago the Brits in Old British India found that the bark of the Quinona Tree had something in it that could control those episodes, thus forth the Gin and Tonic that is still popular. Again, do a little research so I don't drag this on for another ten pages.

So anyway, CG controls the poison from the bursting blood cells that cause fever, chills, sweating, weakness headache and lower back pain, all the symptoms of the filthy bio-weapon the ass hole chinks have attacked us with.

In later years whilst in the desert shit-holes of Iran, Iraq and various South American god-awful dumps the CG was replaced with a modernized control known as Primaquine (PQ). I've taken it for years to control the same effects that Sand Fly Fever has an the human body. PQ is also available at many Mexican farmacias, even RP.
