    Fishing at La Pinta

I'll be down fishing near La Pinta in a week. I'll be paddling from the place on the left, targeting the deeper water south of the Mayan Palace and into the estuary (about a 1.75 mile paddle). Any suggestions or reports on this location? The Mayan Palace is the place with all of the squares on...

Shore fishing at La PInta, report

Ok, now I'm getting excited. It looks like a 2 mile paddle from where I'm staying - not a problem. If it's further I'll get one of my compadres to drive me to the Mayan Palace.

Shore fishing at La PInta, report

Thanks Shore Fisher. It looks like there is some deep water in the northern channel nearer the Mayan Palace (in the last picture above, it's to the left of 'area 3'. Any one know anything about that channel? It's closer to where I'm staying so a shorter paddle.

    fishing weekend

Thanks. I was using the same rig with squid and catching mostly puffers and guitarfish, but was not in a good area (all sand). Caught nice (22") Corvina on jointed rebels trolled just offshore. I see you fish La Pinta. I didn't know the name until I saw your Satellite photos. I will be just...

    fishing weekend

I'll be down the 4th down on Playa Myanmar (north of the 2nd estuary). Be doing some shore fishing and getting out on the kayak to hopefully catch some nice Corvina like I did in May and possibly some cabrilla or triggers or something good in the deep channel at the estuary entrance. How were...

Fishing experience, advice, info por favor!

Wow! Sounds like great fishing, thanks. I just found out we are making another trip down in October - this time at the Myanmar end of the beach near the other estuary. I hope I can have similar luck.

When I've stayed there, Playa Encantada has a gate so you can only drive out there if you live there or are renting a place. Of course there may be a way around it.

Fishing experience, advice, info por favor!

I fished Playa Encantada in a kayak this spring. At low tide I couldn't catch a thing. I couldn't launch at incoming or high tide due to big waves. But as the tide went out I would launch and catch nice Corvina (24") about 50 feet off shore, just past where the waves were breaking. I was...

    Playa Dorada 5/11-5/13

Yeah, it was pretty choppy and the Corvina were near the break. I only rolled it once and was glad I took the advice to leash my rods and equipment. Thanks for the tips on the chovies. Now I just need to get back down there.

    Playa Dorada 5/11-5/13

OK, these are just small fry compared to all of you serious fishermen and women. But we had a great time fishing from Playa Dorada (about 10 miles south of rocky point, north of the Mayan Palace). This is probably the worst place to fish that you could find, being basically an endless sandbar...
