    Satisfied Frog

Went to the Frog last Friday. I ordered the fish & chips since it was the Friday special and my wife ordered the fried chicken. The fried chicken, potatoes and gravy were great, so were the very cold beers. The fish on the other hand was some of the worst I've had. It looked wonderful when it...

    Gardner

Is there any true gardener's for hire in Penasco? Someone who will take care of plants, water them when they need water, know if they are getting too much water, pull out weeds and basically keep everything green and healthy? Someone who knows plants and knows they don't all need the same...

Hi Denise, Here are a couple more to add to your list. Xochitl's (Cholla Cafe) AKA Sally's Place, in Cholla Bay. Serves a great breakfast and some good lunch options. Summer hours are Friday- Sunday from 6:00 am -2:00pm. Also one of the best Chinese food restaurants in town is Nuevo Canzu...

    Kayak fishing - need permit?

I agree with the odds of ever being checked. I have fished constantly out of Cholla for the past 25 years and have never been asked. I still get my yearly license just in case, and also because I fish other parts of Mexico.

    Kayak fishing - need permit?

The fishing license is for you not the craft you are on. It is valid anywhere you fish in Mexico. Just be aware that everyone on your boat needs license even if you are the only one fishing.

    Kayak fishing - need permit?

The yearly license is for one year from the date of issue. I think I paid somewhere around $45-$50 back in March of this year.

    Crab....

There's nothing like catching your own Dungeness. Fresh caught crab and a loaf of Extra Sourdough Bread. Those were the days. I think I see a road trip in my future.

    Coconut palms on RP beaches?

Thanks Carnac. I have had my trees in now for about 5 years and have yet yo see any cotton balls. They do get a ton of flowers that are yellow in the morning, orange by noon and red in the evening and then they fall off. I guess my trees just don't have balls.

    Coconut palms on RP beaches?

There is a good nursery in Penasco on the same street as Telmex. Heading south on Bonito Juarez turn left at Portugal Insurance and then make the first right. About a block or so down on the west side of the street before you get to Telmex. I have had great luck with (what the locals call...

    Brothers Pizza?

Anyone know what happened to Brother's Pizza? Went by there today and they were closed with a for rent sign in the window. I know the owners had moved back to the states because of some health reasons. I believe the new managers/partners were the people from CS foods in Penasco. Just wondering...

    Hunters?

Has anyone been to Hunters? Not even sure if they are open yet. It looks like a new restaurant with a neon sign on the front. It is located across from the spice store in Penasco. I believe the street is Nicolas Bravo, just off Beneito Juarez behind the Pemex. I'll try to check it out in the...

San Carlos to Penasco - Now 5 3/4 hours

I agree, this is a great drive. I have have taken this route a few times in the past year or so. A much more relaxing drive with beautiful views. Once you know what sections have potholes and slow it down a little it is no problem. Just keep in mind that there is not much traffic on this road...
