    Fresh Fish!

You have to be careful when buying fresh fish other than shrimp. We bought "scallops" once and they were not scallops. We've been going down for 35 years. The first ten years we just bought from anyone who had a good price. Then I started buying from one vendor who gave me good prices and...

Need a Periodontist. Anyone know a good one in Mexico?

Wood Spinner, I hear ya. They told him he needed it about 15 years ago and even though we had dental insurance then, the co pay was 50% and with five kids we couldn't afford it. So he took the route you suggested and has been going in for perio maintenance every three months. He takes...

Need a Periodontist. Anyone know a good one in Mexico?

Thanks for the info. I think I've heard of Dr. Nunez in doing my research on the internet. Rocky Smiles also came up when I googled "periodontist in Puerto Penasco". There is one dentist down there that a lot of American's go to, but I can't remember his name. We might just get a few...

Need a Periodontist. Anyone know a good one in Mexico?

My hubby just found out he has to have periodontal (gum) surgery. They want $12,000!!! I've read on the internet that you can fly to Mexico, get a nice hotel for a few nights, have the surgery, all for about half of that. I know there are some popular general dentists down there, but this has...

From the friendly folks at Las Palomas via craigslist

It's Las Palomas. They are not allowed to rent privately to anyone. I feel bad for people who bought there because their hands are tied by the resort and they have to charge so much more than the going rate in RP. Las Palmas allows the owners to rent privately. You can get a 2bdrm condo...

    spring breaks - what weeks?

They are all off the week of the 15th this year I'm pretty sure. We were thinking of going down but wanted to avoid spring break so I checked the various web sites.

From the friendly folks at Las Palomas via craigslist

Las Palmas is so overpriced. If you look for RP rentals on the internet, they are mostly Las Palmas because they can't rent directly and they have to charge what the resort sets as "fair", but it's not. Between the economy and the media reports about RP there are fewer people going down so...

    Tortilla shop

We buy those tortillas from her and we can't even get home without eating one. That's even after we just had a big breakfast at LaCurva. I buy about six dozen and divide them in groups of 4 and freeze them. They taste just as good after being in the freezer for a couple of months.

    Is it raining in RP?

Let's all say a little prayer tonight for those in RP who do not have adequate shelter to stay dry and especially those who do not have adequate shelter to stay safe. I don't know how many of you are in Phoenix/Tucson, but it's suppose to get really bad tonight here and I'm sure RP will be hit...

    Motorhome Storage

We stored our RV at the Reef for a few months and felt it was very secure. They will store it even if you don't stay there when you go down. It's $40-$45 depending on the length. Here's the link: http://www.thereefrvpark.com/

For those that currently don't, would you if you could?

What part of Panama did he live? We are not specifically moving to live in a cheaper country. Our main reason for moving is our lover of the climate, the tranquility of the mountains and rain forests, and our love of Central America. Our second reason for moving is to get away from our...

For those that currently don't, would you if you could?

Electric about $70 a month, water $5 a month, phone and internet $50, Cable TV, $50, Medical insurance $95, Car Insuance $55.00 A brand new home with all the modern features will run about $200,000 but you can find one under $100K that is very nice. It just depends on how you want to live...

For those that currently don't, would you if you could?

Seadweller, I'm not a regular on this board so I don't really know you, but I'm shocked that you say you live in the barrios. Isn't that the area along the railroad tracks where the houses are made of cardboard boxes? I guess I have this picture in my head of you living in a cardboard box...

For those that currently don't, would you if you could?

I could live in PP for a year, but only in one of the condos or american trailer parks. I wouldn't be comfortable living "in town". I couldn't do it for much more than a year because I would miss the modern stores, movie theaters, entertainment venues, air conditioned everything, and medical...

Where to eat at Puerto Penasco... Mary's, The Friendly Dolphin, Citron

My sister in law had the same experience at Friendly Dolphin. Sick as a dog for days after eating there. It's one of those places we just never tried and now, never will. Hubby also got sick twice at the restaurant at the Playa Bonita Hotel. We should have learned the first time. Once it...

Do It EVERY Trip, Don't forget!

That's what I thought. If they are cold, they won't care if the sweatshirt has a bleach stain, but I just wanted to make sure. I even have a bag of mis-matched socks which I feel they would appreciate if their feet are cold. As you say, they live in a cardboard box and I'm just going to...

Do It EVERY Trip, Don't forget!

I have a question about the quality of the things they want. For example, I have a new navy blue sweat shirt that had bleach splattered on it. It's not real bad, just three or four "pea size" white spots. Do they want something like that or will they be offended. Also I'm just getting ready...

    Direct TV

We took our Direct TV with us when we camped at Playa Elegante. We used the zip for Rocky Point, Lukeville, Tucson, etc. It never worked. We just had to move it back and forth, up and down until it found the signal. We always got it running, but it took us forever (and lots of cussing by...

Do It EVERY Trip, Don't forget!

Great idea. I always think about it, but then I forget while I'm so busy packing. I never knew where to drop it off. When I see the kids living next to the railroad tracks I just want to go out and buy as many blankets as I can afford. We have a brand new Goodwill store here in Surprise...
