Sunday random checks in Lukeville overwhelm travelers

I'm sure that all of us frequent border crossers would like to see "that regulation/law", if any such thing exists, which I doubt that it does. Inspection protocal appears to be at the discretion of the administration of the individual Border Entry Point, and may not be uniform. For example, if...

General Store in Lukeville is closed

Mexico has recently prohibited the importation of virtually all food products - milk, meats, fruits, and vegetables - from the US. SAGARPA. See the new sign as you cross into Mexico at Lukeville/Sonoyta. A Mexican Aduana Agent told us that he now has to refer all food discoveries to a SAGARPA...

    Local Woman Is Missing

There are MANY missing people in Rocky Point. According to a local, the number is in the hundreds. Most are never seen again. Occasionally, a body is found, cut up in pieces. Frequently, you see posters of missing persons circulating in Penasco. There was one of a 13 year old girl, missing from...

Sunday random checks in Lukeville overwhelm travelers

Roberto - "Al Quida has been very effective in reducing Freedom in teh US doncha think." I don't agree. It's the Marxist Obama Administration that uses any excuse possible to restrict the freedom of US citizens. For example, why is it necessary for US Border Agents to be armed with machine...

Sunday random checks in Lukeville overwhelm travelers

GZa - Border Agents have the authority to do what is necessary to accomplish a legal compliance search of anything coming into the US. Several years ago, there was a case involving the interior of a vehicle being severely damaged during a routine border inspection. The court ruled in favor of...

    Declaring merchandise going into Mexico

PP- You did the correct thing. NEVER try to bribe anybody! You have to know your duty-free importation limits. They can be between $50 and $150 per person, depending on your immigration/resident status. I believe the maximum is $400 per car.

Sunday random checks in Lukeville overwhelm travelers

Ladyjeeper - As I posted previously, the agents can ask you to do anything. If you comply, you are doing their job. In the case that you cite, you have a perfect right to stand your ground, and request a supervisor, especially if you have been treated in a disrespectful manner.

Sunday random checks in Lukeville overwhelm travelers

If you get pulled over for secondary inspection, it's the agent's job to unload your vehicle and perform the inspection. It's also his job to replace and repack your items the way he found them. That's what the agents get paid for. You don't have to do their job. They can ask you anything, but...

Why the "drama and mystery", as Stuart would call it? Eduardo Bours, former governor of Sonora, owns Bachoco. That's no secret.

    Gas Prices a week ago

Remember, the gasoline that you buy in Mexico is refined in the US. It is not diluted with ethanol, so you get more miles per gallon from gasoline purchased in Mexico. The only issue is cheating on what you purchase, which is common. Your best guide is watching where the local fishermen buy gas...

I had to PAY a little Morbida

Heading north over the hill into town is a no brainer. Pay attention and you will have no problem. Easy picking for those who don't. However, beware of the crooked cop with a fake speed locked on his radar gun. Heading south I was locked on to 40km/h with my cruise control. I was pulled over by...

Whats the difference between border patrol and police based on the border?

Not quite correct. There is no longer such a thing as a separate Customs Agency. All the separate agencies involved in border and immigration enforcement were combined into the Department of Homeland Security, including Agricultural Inspection agents. Even before DHS, these agents from various...

    Hot rumor

Better to put in office a successful, proven businessman, rather than an inexperienced, worthless, communist community organizer, whose birth records and educational history are virtually untraceable. History and performance are more significant than hair style.

    Buying frozen shrimp

This is a little late for now, but I believe the name is Ocean Products. It's a rather large processing plant that you can't miss. As someone previously posted, it's on the east side of Sinaloa, one block east of Benito Juarez, about directly east of Burger King. They sell to anyone. They have a...

    Credit Card Theft

Needless to say, best to use CASH, preferably Mexican Pesos in Mexico. I use a credit union debit card to get cash at the ATM machines at Banamex, and never have had a problem. Used to get the actual exchange rate without fee. However, there is now a fee, based on percent of withdrawal.

    Mi Familia y Mare Blu

Rosy's has the best machaca (not filled with potatoes), and the best chile rellenos in town. Pescado empanezado is also great, especially on Fridays. Great tartar sauce. Portions are all very generous.

    Crossing Fruit - Limones

WoW! Great research! Memories from my early childhood days reading the Sunday comics at grandmother's house. By the way, couldn't resist picking up this handle before someone else snapped it up. Sometime back someone mentioned it in a sarcastic post.

    Crossing Fruit - Limones

Was that the same comic that always seemed to have a guy with a big belly, button popping off his shirt, and a chicken/rooster catching the button?
