The Debacle on Bloody Decks.

Now I am no supporter of this type of thing, but it does bring up in my mind the ethical issue of how many fish is too many to catch and retain (I say ethical, as leaglly there are catch limits to be complied with, or at least there should be...) I often only manage one or two fishing trips a...

    Catchin fish in Las Conchas

I've also had some action in March/April off the beach in front of a rental house in PP. There seemed to be a lot of guitarfish (More often called sand sharks) and a few California Corbina and other misc fish. I use a 2 or 3 oz lead on a running trace (Thread your line through the weight hole...

    Might want to try.

Interesting. I went up to Cape Cod last year and read a book in the house we rented from way back about Bass fishing. They used to skin eels and sew them back up to troll for bass. I assume surgical tubing fulfills the same end.

    Shore fishing

Search for posts by me on this forum and you'll get what you need. I can only recommend the estuaries (South/East side - furthest from PP), although I have heard reports of decent fish in the harbour. Ed

The Corvina were all in the 1 to 2-1/2 lb range.

Shore Report - La Pinta, East Side, 24-25 Nov 2008

No, I wasn't doing 100... I was commenting on the low number of other people overtaking me at that speed...

Shore Report - La Pinta, East Side, 24-25 Nov 2008

My dad and I left Tucson at 5:30 AM and refuelled at the casino in Why after a nice quiet first half of the journey. For the first time we found the shop at the casino closed, so we also stopped at the gas station on the corner and picked up some ice and a couple of chorizo and potato burrittos...

    La Pinta Trip

Looks like I'm on for a 2-3 day shore fishing trip down to La Pinta next week. Anyone know of anything that has changed down that way since this time last year? I am assuming beach access, etc are still OK. Anyone fished the shore in recent weeks? Ed

    Sea Ray

I'm not a marine engineer, but I would not expect that magnesium alloy would be used in a marine environment. Far too much corrosion potential I would think. Probably one of the special aluminum alloys developed for low corrosion in marine-like environments. I would expect it would weld pretty...

    Shore Reports Anyone?

Thinking that it may be cooling off enough to plan a beach camping trip at La Pinta. Anyone fished the shore lately?

    Totoaba

Amazing photo from PP. Associated text below. cmacdon4.jpg[/attachment:14awhh8g] This photo, taken by L.M. Huey or an associate, at Puerto Peñasco in February 1934, was provided by Dr. John Hendrickson who had reported it (Hendrickson, J.R 1979. Totoaba: Sacrifice in the...

It's not the gear, it's the fisherman!

That's good enough for me - Give me one of those rigs! I wonder how much 200 lb mono you can load on that reel..... Maybe not so good for a Grouper record attempt, but there may be a Corvina opportunity here.... :|

    Sand Crabs?

I recently took a vacation down in Puerto Vallarta and managed to get a few hours of fishing on the beach in front of the resort each morning/evening. I started fishing with the standard bait (shrimp and squid pilfered from the kitchens) and lures I use a Penasco, without much luck. Then, one...

    La Pinta

Here is a picture of the east side of La Pinta, where I normally fish Pinta1.jpg[/attachment:f5q92p6i]pinta2.jpg[/attachment:f5q92p6i] The only place I have ever really fished before is the area marked 3b. When the tide is low, you can walk over the...

    La Pinta

I used to use the little rubber-cored weights with really small (<1/2oz) lures and clip them to the line just above, but I always doubted they worked very well under the water, and I don't really think there are many situations where less than 1/2oz gives you any more action than the 1/2oz lures...

    La Pinta

Any shore reports from La Pinta since the weather has heated up? Itching to get down myself, but I'm not sure I'll manage it for a month or so - Does the Corvina action slow up as the water warms, or does it keep going right through until the cold weather hits? Ed
