I was just kidding... Although any new visitor asking about safety probably does need to know all the facts. Tough to just sweep that incident under the rug. Everybody's perception of what is safe is different. For me, I refuse to visit or take family to areas where tourists are being targeted...

Just use the same precautions you would take traveling to any other country. I personally wouldn't drive at night in a unfamiliar area in any foreign country. The question of whether it is safe or not is too vague.

I've been to three "home ports" in my life (the ones listed above). The area surrounding these ports hardly resembles "Vegas" with high services, high rise lifesyle, etc. It's industrial with parking lots, shipping containers, etc

Wow that already looks terrible. Couldn't they have put this monstrosity somewhere else out of the way? Maybe out by the airport? Generally they don't build cruise ship home ports on nice beaches with condos. (See Long Beach, Galveston, NYC, etc)

If hotels are in the works, then a developer should look into purchasing one of the unfinished condos and convert it. On a side note... Wasn't there word that the government had an interest in Las Palomas? Couldn't finishing phase 3 as a hotel/vacation rental be wrapped into this? Kill two...

Agreed... I couldn't help but notice all those towers in the rendering. Wouldn't you agree that any funding for that (if it exists) should go towards finishing the skeletons already on Sandy Beach?

I remember we were shopping around a few years back and many of the private sellers were accepting offers of 10-20% down. Given the current economy, I just don't see a lot of buyers ready to drop 200k cash on a condo. Of course the beach battle last month won't help either.

Yeah I hadn't either... If those banks plan on unloading foreclosed condos for cash, there better be a pretty steep discount.

What kind of terms are the lenders offering? And what banks lend money on these in the first place? American or Mexican?

No intention of implying that you are dirty, or untruthful. My thoughts on this whole subject mimic exactly what mis2810 said on the last page (hence the like). Didn't feel the need to repeat the same thing. Promoting RP is your business. Any independent thinker has to take that into account...
