    Best Margaritas in Old Port?

YES, Iguana Banana. The staff was very friendly, the place looks nice and all, but the only reason we hit it up is because there was absolutely no breeze, it was super hot and muggy and the restaurants on the ocean were all in direct sunlight, though still with no breeze. Thought the 3rd floor...

    Best Margaritas in Old Port?

And although I do like Caribean Bay, the new restaurant in the former Thirsty Parrot building, I will say the margs there are crap. I took two sips and let the rest turn to melted ice water. Oh, and the newish 3-story place? Not the Shark Bite but on the same side of the street...umm (will have...

    Best Margaritas in Old Port?

Agree on El Capitan, but if you're actually on the Malecon, El Perico Marinero used to make margs with limes, tequila, triple sec and a dash of Squirt. And you could get it to go while you're cruising the shops! I've given up on anything other than beer at BooBar. I've sent back drinks maybe 4...

Walmart running sale on school supplies....

I know you guys have been doing this for years, but in light of the new food/clothing/etc. restrictions when entering Mexico, will this be an issue? I've read some odd posts lately about how how random they've been at the border about what is and isn't acceptable, under the guise of protecting...

    The Friendly Dolphin

I've always had great experiences with the restaurant inside Playa Bonita, though I've only eaten there for breakfast. And speaking of great views...Yeah, skip the Lighthouse, head a few steps up to El Capitan for margs and an app. I'd go elsewhere for an actual meal as the food there is pretty...

Thanks for the link, Jerry. Yeah, this is pretty sick. Another link posted there: http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_18443768 Fishing expert on capsized boat: 'There is no way I'd get on this.'

60 miles South of San Felipe boat sinks many dead

The people on this FB page for San Felipe don't seem to know what the hell they're talking about and are more concerned with damage-control. http://www.facebook.com/groups/SanFelipeBCMexico?id=10150244285823028

    Reggie's 8/12

a friend of mine loves the bean and cheese burros at Reggie's. and don't forget that these tortillas are super-fresh, made hours earlier--that's half of the enjoyment right there!

    Foods allowable ....

I am guessing this was Mexico playing their political hand, playing some hardball, making it even more of a hassle to bring imported items in, and then the Obama admin finally caved in and said, OK, screw it, we'll give you this concession if you stop all of this BS. I wouldn't be surprised if...

    Foods allowable ....

Pork is OK but beef is not? And didn't someone earlier say they took away their milk and eggs?

    Foods allowable ....

If you are following the other "Crossing..." thread, you'll see that the guidlines have changed as far as what you can bring into Mexico, via a small sign recently posted on the way in. The RPTimes probably has it correct as far as bringing food back, but doubtful they've updated the other end.

    Crossing into Mexico

I DO like supporting the local community and mostly eat out and/or stop by the Super Ley or wherever as much as possible rather than bringing in items from the US, but on my short trips, it's nice to have some munchies or maybe tuna salad, etc. as a beach snack already prepared as to save time.

    Crossing into Mexico

From now on, if I AM going to bring some food across the border, I'm going to go with the old trick I used when I had to share a common lunch fridge with dozens of other random employees, in which I would take a few strategic bites out of whatever item I had. I guess one could also try opening...

    Fires in Mexico

Dead body found in plastic bag near LukeVille

Take two, National Lampoon's Vacation scenario: "Clark, you can't tie my dead uncle to the roof like that." "He can't catch a cold now, Mom." "Shut up, Audrey." "What, do you want me to strap him to the hood? Aww, Ellen, he'll be fine. It's not like it's going to rain or anything." cuts to...

Damn, these new border restrictions. Can't bring in milk, cooked chicken or your old dead uncle. Shame you have to leave 'em on the other side like that.

    Weird heat spike on Saturday

I don't think this is the one I was thinking of, but it just occurred yesterday, though a bit less extreme. http://4029weather.wordpress.com/2011/07/04/heat-burst-hits-bentonville/

    Weird heat spike on Saturday

Could have been the atmospheric phenomena called a "heat burst." Happened last month in Kansas and pretty sure it happened elsewhere in the US in the last couple of days. Will look for another link...
