About a half century ago I remember starring at a large stucture on that point wondering how and why it was there. My father told me it was an abandoned fish processing plant. More details tomorrow, had to much fun this weekend and I'm wiped out.
My wife would be horrified if she saw that many dead turtles. We were down last September and saw many dead large triggers all along Las Conchas and at the Estuary, by-catch?
Last Wednesday. It hung out for 5 hours or so. I was lucky to get this pic because it made quick trips to the surface, had to put the fishing rod down for awhile, which is not an easy thing for me to do.
Why can't I post photos here?....server error every time.
I found some more photos a couple months ago, just need to scan them. We will be crossing the border Friday morning for an 8 day trip, just the 2 of us this time.
Looks like your playground back then was La Choya area, ours was Playa Hermosa and the old port area, 2 different worlds back then. I do remember few trips to JJs in the 90s though, thats about it for me.
Heading down next week. We will be dropping off a bunch food at Barbs and wanted to donate to the orphanage, but I haven't been there in many years. Is it still there, if so what are their current needs besides cash?
Thanks, T@J
There were huge schools of pompano in the area back in the 60s and 70s for sure. The dolphin and porpoise pods, big mackerel would feed on them creating massive boils.
We caught pompano, leather backs and Corvina at the estuary back then when the sardine schools were massive. There were sharks...
