Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

The probability of predicting the future occurrence of a certain event is usually calculated from the historical occurrence of that event. Since there is no history of Americans being killed by cartel violence in Penasco, it is impossible to predict the future probability of occurrence of such...

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

Much more likely for an American tourist to be the victim of violence in the US. That's my opinion. More likely for an American tourist to be injured in Mexico due to his own stupidity, such as speeding, reckless driving, drunkenness, doing risky acts that they would never do in the US, etc.

Absolutely! Don't go anywhere that you don't feel comfortable. If you violate your feelings, it's almost a sure thing that you won't have a good time.

Very easy - it's called "profiling". By the way, what does a "Mexican family" look like?

One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist in order to sit back, sort out emotion from fact, and size up what is the real threat to one's security, then take the necessary precautions.

Yeah, and much of Las Conchas. With every event that depresses property values, the cartel operatives gobble up more real estate in Penasco. You see them coming from various parts of Mexico in the summer, vacationing with their families, filling the void left by the former American tourists.

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

No doubt. American tourists are highly intimidated by highway checkpoints manned by heavily armed troops. The presence of military troops has no effect on cartel operations. It's as effective as putting water in your radiator when you run out of gas.

Military action in RP had to be done.

What's your point, Todd? I thought this was a discussion forum, where people come to obtain, and exchange information. You seem to regard it as a popularity contest, which is not the same.

Erik, I don't know what world you live in, or who you are working for, but you have no concept of reality. It's hard to believe that you really believe what you are posting. The "bad guys" that you refer to could have been taken out very easily by proper surveillance, stake-out, or highway road...

If you have rental income in Mexico read this.

Retina scanning? Unbelievable! Sounds like another case of overkill.

There is a permanent Hacienda (SAT) office on the right side of the street as you enter Old Port.

Interesting that the federal authorities left as quickly as they arrived. They didn't even stay around long enough to pick up the dead bodies, or to preserve the crime scenes!

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

Get real! There were only 4 or 5 killed. They are only an insignificant tip of the iceberg in Penasco. The Sinaloa Cartel is in total control of Penasco. It would be far worse if we had other cartels fighting for territory with the Sinaloa Cartel. If there were no drug routes to the US, and our...

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

"as far as we know". How about Operation Fast and Furious, delivering thousands of guns, not available in gun shops in the US, into the hands of the drug cartels? The US administration has been discouraging US tourism to Mexico for many years. Various State Department warnings is testimony...

It is naive to hope that there will be no repercussions. However, since the local authorities were not responsible for, or a part of the recent action, it is reasonable to assume that they will be free from repercussions.

Wierd scene coming into Rocky Point today.

Blah, blah, blah! The local administration has no authority over the Sinaloa Cartel. It's the other way around. However, tourists are basically safe. Fortunately, there have been on innocent casualties in any of these altercations.

It was a federal action, and had nothing to do with the local, or state government.

And, if you did not drink ALCOHOL during prohibition, there would be no mafia in the US!

Military action in RP had to be done.

Nonsense. .50 cal guns are not "mini guns". If it was necessary to eliminate a few "bad guys", it could have easily been surgically accomplished without so much drama. Rocky point is not Afghanistan. The whole reason for all of this is the insatiable appetite for illegal drugs in the US. There...
