Labor Day Weekend - Border Traffic

+1 on going early. If you are at the border by 11am there should be less than a 30 minute wait. After 12pm it can be 30-120 minutes depending on how many cars get the red light entering Mexico.

King Bed + Mattress: Buy or Bring???

+1 on Muebles Colonales, south of The Super Ley on Constitution about 1 block before Benito Juarez, next to a bus station. I didn't know the could get stuff from the USA. Thx I purchased a Cal King inner spring pillow top mattress, ( they sell all sizes), in May for $360 delivered to my place...

    WOW

Ahh, the tease of nicer temps was short. Back to dew points near 80 again. I'll be down in 2 1/2 weeks to give my A/C a workout. At least the cervezas will still be cold and frosty.:)

    WOW

Having lower humidity with daytime temps in 90's are not bad. The transition into fall is just starting to tease us (with morning temp's in the 60's), it's the start of the nice weather coming.:):)

    Internet in Rocky Point?

Tel-Mex is the main provider and it is maybe 1.5-3 mb's speed vs Cox at 50 mb's. So it will be slower. I have streamed HBO Go in Cholla and it was fine. There were some buffering issues, but watchable on a laptop and phone. Some of the others here who have RP Internet could tell you what...

    Mexico Home Insurance

Glad to hear that Portugal Insurance has paid in spite of all the bad rumors I have heard. I was with Portugal for 15 years before I switched to PA because of a couple of neighbors who said they were cheated on their claims. Next year I will shop around.

    Health Insurance in Mexico

There are some medical insurance companies (2-3) that will pay out up to $50K in emergency services in foreign countries. Just have to ensure it is in the coverage. You break your leg (example), pay out of pocket and submit the bills when you return. I don't know which ones, but was told about...

    Mexico Home Insurance

Pro Alliance has always returned my inquiries. I had a break in a couple of years ago and the claim was paid. It took about 2 months of negotiating with the insurance company over some of the stolen items value. Paty and Rosie at Pro Alliance were very helpful in dealing with the process.

Any new Internet service in town?

I was wondering if there are any new internet/tv services offered in RP. I was told IZZI Tele was going to provide TV/Internet/phone service to RP a couple of years ago. It looked pretty affordable.

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

I would love to find a place to live with 4 great seasons, I probably can't afford it and would have to move too far away from what I have now. Phx and RP's summer weather is tough to deal with and using A/C is the only way most people can handle it. (I'm amazed that a lot of the RP locals...

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

Is this is your weather station? It does get pretty hot in Cholla, 101.5 yesterday. I like and appreciate that you have a running weather station. :) Very true that RP town get's about 5-7 degrees warmer than the surrounding areas with the ocean near by. The Cholla road does get pretty bad...

Here is a link to a weather station in the middle of Cholla. https://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=pws:ISONORAB5 (Look at it 3-4 times a day for a week to get a real feel for the RP climate during the summer) Here is what you are going to be dealing with during the...

Saying hello, and asking my gringolandia questions now that I am moving to Rocky Point

The humidity is the big issue in RP, the air conditioning has to run much longer to remove the humidity to feel somewhat comfortable vs phx

It can be pretty expensive compared to AZ electric costs. If you don't use much is pretty cheap. Use it like a gringo it gets expensive quickly.

I spent parts of 3 summers before we had electricity in Cholla. So, Oh yeah, And I can tell you Rosarita or Ensenada is a great option from July 5- Oct. 1st. Dew points hovering around 80 are brutal and "No mey gusto".
