Point me in the right direction

Both my pontoons you can put trolling motors on. The smaller one that my daughter was in was about 450.00 and the Skykomish Sunrise that I was on was 900.00. I like the uboat that I saw someone on Saturday. It had 2 people in it and a full outboard motor. I also like the pongas....I just don't...

Point me in the right direction

Just off shore where the Pongas were. I can fish 30 to 40 feet deep but the bone I caught about 20 feet deep just bouncing a shrimp pattern off the current of the outgoing tide. Mackerel was pretty much on top 6 feet of the column but a fast strip with a 4" chartreuse Clouser.

Wind saw really bad Monday and I couldn't get out past the shelter of the rocks so I went in and ate a burrito at Xochitl's and then went back out but it just got worse. Here's the pics from the other day. Cholla Bay is my new favorite spot down there. i love the community there too.

Point me in the right direction

So the last two days have been amazing. I have been at Cholla Bay (my new favorite).Yesterday I even went out in front of Sandy Beach and managed 4 Pompono on Clousers. I caught a Spanish Mackerel Sat Morning right outside Cholla Bay about 30 to 36 inches. The only bad part is that I was...

Point me in the right direction

You can't fish the oyster shack area and you cant get very close to the point unless you go to the parking lot. You can also go to the end of Los Conchas and veer to the left of the hotel at the end and take a road down to the bottom of the estuary but it is kind of sketchy getting out and you...

Point me in the right direction

Be careful if you take your 5 weight.....I would think many of the triggers that I have caught at Pelican Point would break a 5 weight.

Point me in the right direction

I use a 8 weight with a 350 or 400 grain sinking with an intermediate running line and a float line with a big head (outbound) when I'm on the surface with poppers.

Yip, me too. I don't know why they have eluded me because I have probably spend 20 to 30 days there and caught a lot of cabria and triggers and Spainish Mackeral, longjaw leatherbacks, parrot fish, pompono and a few other species but no Corvina. I'm hoping this will be the trip.

Point me in the right direction

I'm heading down for the week of May 30 to June 4th. I flyfish and use a single man pontoon. I usually fish the second estuary but recently like fishing the first estuary and the rocks on the incoming tide. I have yet to catch corvina but have caught many other species. I would also like to...

    CORVINA in La Cholla !!

Oh man Stuart, you're really feeding a fire here! I have yet to have anything take off on me like that. I caught a Sierra that went out to sea (instead of down like Cabria and Trigger) but I could really get into a skipjack on my fly rod!!! I'm already obsessed with the Baja and Rocky Point and...

    CORVINA in La Cholla !!

How much better is the shore fishing in San Carlos than R.P. if I take my pontoon. I'm thinking (from the reading) it is close to the same but bigger fish.... not talking about out to sea...just talking about around the reefs in my toon.

    CORVINA in La Cholla !!

That's good news. I think the depletion in shore fishing at R.P. is partially, if not majorly, due to gill netting.

    CORVINA in La Cholla !!

Aren't the Corvina about gone for the winter? What would you do with 100 Corvina. I bet they didn't even all get cleaned. If the story is true.

    Fly fishing in Rocky Point

Wow!!! That's the kind of input what I'm talking about. Thanks so much. I'll get to tying for my next trip. I usually use a 350 30 foot sink line but do have an outbound line I use for poppers. I'm planning on getting the rio tropical line for Clousers. Do you use your sinking line on the ck...

    Fly fishing in Rocky Point

Thanks for the report and identification. I usually fish the first and second estuary and sometimes along the blvd and the point. I have fished the rocks beyond Sandy beach before Chola bay. I am looking for more structure so I can catch different types of fish besides Cabria, Trigger and Parrot...

    Fly fishing in Rocky Point

Is it pompano .???? Because they look different from other pompano that I have seen. The mouths seem different and they were pretty big (some 18-20". It was crazy action!! Just one right after the other and then they would move some and I would paddle over somewhere and then the fun began again...

    Fly fishing in Rocky Point

I'm fairly new to salt water fishing but since last November I have logged 21 days in my pontoon at and around Rocky Point. I usually catch Trigger, Cabria, and Parrot fish. This last trip I made over Vetrans Day I was able to get into a different type of fish on the rising tide off some...
