Cases are going up in every geographic area surrounding Rocky Point. It would be probable that the number of cases begin to increase there as a result. If they haven't already within the last month with the family/friends returning. Americans with perm resident cards. Because if anyone has been paying attention 20% of positive infection is still making it's way through the sanitation filter. The virus is inside the body. Hard to believe. We're not spraying for staph bacteria here. WTF does spraying the inside of the car do? The virus is a respiratory disease inside the lungs passed through the air. 20% are asymptomatic spreaders that have undoubtedly made their way through the sanitation filter. This is a numbers and statistics lesson. Number of travelers from infected areas increases so does positive test rate in RP. Direct correlation. Even with filter. 20% of infected get through and make contact with even 10 people, do the math. Powers of ten after that. Ever seen those STD trees online about how quickly those can spread through just a few sexual partners?!

Due to the increase in the last week in deaths and cases of Covid-19 among inhabitants of Puerto Peñasco, this port is currently among the four municipalities in red focus for this virus, along with Empalme, Caborca and Navojoa.
Gerardo Álvarez Hernández, general director of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, announced this difficult situation yesterday afternoon.
Of the four municipalities in red focus, Empalme is where the most critical situation is experienced, since deaths and cases of covid-19 have increased by 43% in this municipality.
As for Peñasco, Caborca and Navojoa, the growth in cases and deaths has been between 38 and 24%.

Come on Joe, you know they spray inside the vehicles because they know everyone from Maricopa County habitually licks the interior roof lining of their vehicle, and suckles on the steering wheel while driving.
So the answer to your WTF question about spraying inside the vehicle is one of 2 answers,
1. "It's better to be safe, than sorry."
Or,
2. "It's Mexico."

I entered town from the direction of San Louis RC at 4:30 PM yesterday. The block is still in effect in front of Islas Del Mar. I drove over by the overpass and became third in line in a single lane passing under a tent. All vehicles were being waved through without having to stop. I don’t know if enforcement is now sporadic or has collapsed entirely.

That is good to hear, I would prefer to be sprayed as little as possible, it sounds like I'll also get sprayed entering Cholla Bay.
I'm going down early Sat and will find out what they're doing for my trip, it's still a cluster, but then Penasco
is doing what they think is right to protect themselves. (right or wrong or just a $$ grab?).
I will report my experiences.

Must have the exact change of your bill in pesos to make a payment. Many people standing in line in the heat waiting to make a payment. You can pay at OXXO.

This time of the year I'll gladly pay the 12 peso fee Oxxo charges. Even being on the beach in Aug. is still pretty miserable if

I will not have a hotel reservation because I want to go to my brother’s property. He is the homeowner I’m not. Will they let me in without hotel reservation?

It's still confusing...but yes you can come as a family or friend, but you need to get in the line that says Municipal lane:
Guests with reservations at certified hotels, resorts, or sites not participating in the Prepaid Rapid Test Coverage will go through the Municipal Lane, with all additional vehicles entering via the filter. Random tests will also be applied in the Municipal Lane, but to an individual in every 5th car. The individual tested will be responsible for paying for the Covid-19 rapid test, at a cost of $31 USD or the equivalent in pesos.

I’ve got a science background but there is little to say about the rationale for the screening, which changes all of the time and is often not enforced in any event. Entry in PP is entirely random as is the return through Lukeville. Sometimes I get chewed out because “the border is in a category 4 lockdown” and my truck, my body and my dogs get x-rayed. Yesterday I just got waved through.

The amount of people with CV in Penasco has increased mucho since they opened it up again in June.
My local friend who does work for me got CV from his wife who got it from her family so there are 7 in both families with it.
Penasco has reported 99 cases total so far, this instance is 7 of 99? So I'm positive there are many more cases out there.
"There are many people who have it and will only go to the Dr. when they start getting worse.
There are many who can't afford to go to the DR. and pay for the test or the drugs prescribed.
They also said don't shop at Super Ley or the Bodega. they see people who are sick still shopping there.
One friend said he saw somebody who had their temp taken waiting to go into Sam's Club who had a fever
and told to go home, they just went next door to the Walmart"
The above comments are from 2 locals I'm friends with.
Here is what my CV positive friend was prescribed, 7 meds, 2 steroids, aspirin, some citrus med's that help with iron and Vit D absorption
also some anti-biotics from what I could translate and get results back from the search.
Attached is his prescription.
Here are his symptoms. 1st few days, high fever, head ache, bone pain and loss of smell and taste,
the last 4 days, shortness of breath because his bronchial tubes were inflamed.
The Dr. told him not to work and quarantine for 14 days and until the med's are finished. He then has to take another
CV test before he can be around others. He didn't because of the cost and he had little work for 4 months
It took him 7 days to feel better and of course he goes back to work immediately.
This is the attitude is how many locals are dealing with CV.

Brokenwave, from what I can see in that prescription the Doc prescribed the Oxital (an anticonvulsant, prescribed for partial seizure disorders in epileptic children and adults, either alone or with other medication. It reduces anxiety and mood disorders. It also controls benign motor tics (sudden movements in body lasting for a short period of time); Redoxon (Redoxon was the brand name of the first artificially synthesized ascorbic acid. Redoxon was first marketed to the general public by Hoffman-La Roche in 1934, making it the first mass-manufactured synthetic vitamin in history. The brand is now owned by German pharmaceutical company Bayer and is sold in many countries); Celestamine (Betamethasone/dexchlorpheniramine is a drug containing betamethasone and dexchlorpheniramine maleate to treat allergic conditions. Betamethasone is a steroid to relieve itches and inflammation while dexchlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine to treat urticarial); Aspirin ( we all know this one). Fortunately he did not prescribe any Antibiotics; taking Antibiotics for viral illness is akin to pumping diesel fuel into a gasoline burning car; in this case the Antibiotics would have a reverse effect because it would weaken his immune system that creates antibodies for fighting the virus because it would force his immune system to search and fight the bacteria that are non-existent in his body.

Your resident pharmacist here- Actually he prescribed Oxital-C which is nothing more than an effervescent Vitamin C tablet. Redoxon is written here as an alternate and is an effervescent Vitamin C and Zinc tablet. Indeed the Celestamine is an antihistamine/corticosteroid combo. And the Tempra Forte is nothing more than extra strength Tylenol (acetaminophen). Nothing here is an anticonvulsant.

My local friend said he paid approx 6,000 pesos ($275) for the CV test, Dr. visit and prescriptions total.
That is a little over 1.5 weeks wages for him when he was still working.
I will over pay him for the little projects he did for me, while we were gone the last 5 months, when I see him next week.

Nothing about Vitamin C is special, though some take it for the common cold, as in "Emergen-C" powder as an immune supplement. As far as the Redoxon which contains zinc, some feel it can lessen the duration of a virus infection, but no solid proof of it. Topical zinc for use in the nasal passages is sold over the counter as a common cold treatment. Again, no proof it actually does anything.
As far as corticosteroids go, we don't routinely use them in the treatment of COVID-19 in patients who do not require supplemental oxygen. Only in those that are mechanically ventilated and in patients who require supplemental oxygen but who are not mechanically ventilated.
Antihistamine is fine if patient exhibits any sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, etc.
Aspirin is used for fever and discomfort. Why the doc is using Tylenol along with it is not a good practice. I don't recommend using both at the same time due to liver and kidney toxicity potential.

PUERTO PEÑASCO. - The San Eduardo Clinic, through its Facebook account, warned «I see a massive outbreak coming in which we will not have the capacity to react, nor the spaces to attend to our patients, and worse still, there will not be enough medicine to cope, yes no we stop this massive relaxation.
In another message, the hospital stated “I see with sadness how people definitely do not understand even in spite of the deaths in the city and the amount of infections that we are experiencing. I hope in God to fight the battle and to be able to continue with the fight that we have led for the people even though they do not understand.
On the other hand, if we add to the messages from this clinic that the port was completely opened to tourism, after a rebound in cases and deaths from coronavirus, the result can be fatal for the inhabitants of this municipality.

Letting thousands of people into Penasco from Mexico's hot spots, ex. Mexicali and the US hot spots AZ, Texas and California
probably wasn't the greatest idea to control Covids spread into Penasco.
But without a Govt that can just spin the money printing presses like the US did what choice did they have.
A majority of the people in Mexico are much closer to the poverty level than in the US.
So you can't let people go hungry. It's a double sided blade sadly.

you must not know many people the hospitals in phoenix metro are 90% full and yuma cant even handle the pandemic that they need to bus the sick to New Mexico of all places because phoenix tucson dont have the room for them. I know 4 people in sonora that caught it alone not in penasco and 3 in phx they survived but hit hard. Hopefully by fall the hospitals have a grip on it an can handle it by then.

Here in Tucson the hospitals typically run at 83% . Tmc has removed the 30 beds that were for this flue , no longer needed .

Incorrect. The first number is impossible to know. 20% at least asymptomatic. It would be impossible to know how widespread the virus is. I believe the infection rate could be a lot higher. Why some people's immune system is able to "deal" with it is a different argument.
For every 100k, 20k have it and feel fine. They are not getting tested. Do the math on 5 million.

Though I'm not out and about at all among the population except to pick up my online purchases from Frys and I live alone, I could be asymptomatic.
I live very close to where Clear Creek goes under the bridge on 260, and the closest "city" is Cottonwood 25 miles away. To the east of me, the nearest city is 50 miles away, Payson. I will not try to get myself tested anytime soon.

that's 3.18% and if you're over 50 it's under 2% over 60, 5% over 70, 8-10% over 80, 17-18%..
So if you're in a younger age group you can live with the Covid death ratio's.
If your older, that 2-18% becomes a we bit more important.

who have or had it. Many people who have gotten sick just stayed home, because they simply can't afford to go get checked out.
So with Penasco saying case totals are 99, you can make your own assumptions. I feel we're only getting a part of the picture.
It wouldn't take a lot to over run Penasco's health system if suddenly 30-50 people came down with Covid who needed to be hospitalized,

Last month we had 178 deaths in one day just here in AZ and then people started to wake up and take the proper precautions. I've been picking up my groceries, (they bring them out to me) about every two weeks and when I went yesterday, the use of masks had gone up from very few to maybe 90%.

If you came into my yard, maskless and coughed or sneezed in the vicinity of my family complaining about Fear Porn, you would have to crawl home, if you could. that would be after you were rolled into the street. What many of you may not know is that in the beginning all suspected infected people were immediately sent to Hermosillo for the initial examination period. Remember when people who thought they had the symptoms were instructed to NOT go to a local Dr,. clinic or hospital but to call a phone number for instructions? And hey that new report says only 7 kids. Surely we can spare 7 kids ! It's not worth having to wear a mask to try to save only 7 kids is it Steve? You can yak about what you deem low death rates but how would you feel if one of your family was in that group? seems to me that just ONE death is worth trying to prevent.

I've seen 3 of my local friends this trip and none of them were wearing anything I call a quality mask.
One friend a bar tender had what looked like 2 pieces of tissue paper with some rubber bands, this is what he has to wear while working.
Another was wearing a bandanna (he was the one who had Covid).
My 3rd friend had a designer mask that looked worthless.
We brought down 60 - 3 ply masks, not the best being about 60% effective but much better than what they had.
We will keep a few for ourselves for the remainder of our trip this week and leave the balance with my friends
who can share them with their families.
When we return next month I'll bring a few boxes of them with us.
This just shows peoples attitudes towards the Covid, places like the US, Mexico, much of Latin America seem to not care
as much which is why new cases are still high everyday. This is amazing because we're 5 month's into this.
Places in Europe who took this seriously are reporting new cases at a much,much lower rate than us.

So now the social justice warriors are complaining about the quality of masks people are wearing? It went from no masks to your mask isn't good enough? If this troubles you so much, stay home. Stop worrying about what others are doing and mind your business.
P.S. If Europe is such a paradise, airplane tickets are cheap now and you are free to head over. You will be disappointed when you get there.

Badly needed is an understatement. If they would have put in place and followed a few simple guidelines we wouldn't have the 4,158 deaths that have been reported to date. I'm glad most are starting to get it, with the exception of our two trolls of course, and that gives me a little hope. But man, as a whole, Arizona had dropped the ball and their inaction has cost lives on both sides of the border.
Only Fox could simultaneously tell you not to do anything to mitigate risk and then take credit for the outcome of preventative measures...

As of mid July, The US isn't an approved travel partner so not many Euro zone countries are allowing the CV infested residents of
the US to travel there currently.

We are planning on coming down next weekend. It would be the first trip for our daughter and she was really excited. tonight she sends us this article and now doesnt want to go. Just wondering what everyone else thinks of this. Im thinking if we got stuck in PP for a few weeks things wouldnt be so bad!

Won't happen. If something like this does come along, suspects will be given a quick Chinese virus test and then will be free to cross the border. If they do test positive twice, they will be allowed to quarantine in the US in some govt approved facility.
