Heard an ad for Boomerfest on 100.7, the classic rock station in Phoenix. They are spending money on promotion. Can't believe this is actually going to happen.
I am sure they will have to sell day tix though. Most festivals do several weeks after first putting the full access passes on sale.
It hasn't happened yet. The amount of logistics this will take for everything the have planned could be 3x bigger than Circus Mexicus.
I hope it does happen for the influx of revenue it will bring into PP. But you wont see me there at the prices they are charging.
I wonder how the ticket sales are going? Rooms at the resorts should be starting to book up.

I smell a major implosion to happen with this thing. I hope it doesn't it'll be really bad for Rocky Point reputation.

I know what you mean. I think I made a statement on this thread about how CM had some issues crossing at Lukeville this year and they are no where near as big as this thing claims to be.
Some of the acts show no performance date listed for BF. Some do. So not sure what to think
Scheduled September 25-29, 2013. Postponed to June 11-15, 2014. Postponed to October 08-12, 2014. Not a very good track record to establish any credibility. Hey Henry, are you really going to do it this time? Only 11 weeks left!!:confused:

Con Man and Investment Fraud, dozen of Failed Projects
Henry Altman of many business aliases is up to his old tricks again. Through scams in Costa Rica, Belize, Panama and now back in the good old USA. Henry continues to con people out of their money. In Panama he scammed well over $1 million dollars from investors, then ran to the USA to start B&A Development Group to do another scam land development in the Woodlands. Now his is into mining in Peru and Ecuador and who knows where else.
Investing with Henry Altman, Tony Rao, or anyone associated with him you can be assured your money will disappear in short order. Henry uses his Home Stead exemption in Texas to protect the money he has stolen from investors. Once in the home no investor can sue against that money.
Henry Altman and La Frontera Oasis L.L.C. is another cover for Henry Altman Scams. Prepare to loose your money.

Well buy one of those luxury tent packages then Russ....I am sure everything is ok.
Nope, won't be here. We have a 10 day trip into the Copper Canyon with a group of 16 guest in October so I guess we will miss the show here, have fun though.

Sounds great...did you know the rail line was built by a American utopian socialist?
Just a quick note that Boomerfest is being advertised on a digital billboard on the north side of the 101 approaching Cave Creek Rd from the Desert Ridge area. It was about 12:10 pm yesterday in Phoenix.

Oh wow, then it's really happening!!!! :p
LOL I almost bumped into the car stopped in front of me on the 101 today trying to snap a photo. I can not believe this "festival" is dropping that kind of money to advertise in Phoenix. A sign like that typically costs about 24k for an annual contract, shorter time frames are significantly more expensive than 2k a month. Often they range in the 5k to 6k range for a month or two. I do not see this event happening based on the track record of the promoter. The numbers posted for a rate are based on my personal experience and those were for a sign at Glendale Rd and the 101 for a place in the Westgate Shopping Center. Needless to say we did not advertise there.

What's a few K to spend if you're going to rip people off for several K more?
Derek, if what we are doing isn't a warning to the general public about the possibility of a BoomerFest Days scam in Rocky Point, then what do you suggest we do differently?
What does concern me is the people that want bragging rights crowing about how awful Mexico is and how they will say I told you so if this BF guy gives Penasco a black eye if it is a bust.
I call that sound that comes out of his mouth a growl/howl not a voice !! I love his antics on stage. I had a good imitation worked up years ago. Maybe I'll practice and do it at the next rumble while I sing "You can keep your hat on".
Too Bad Cisco Kid. I've put strap extenders on that purse, added a extra brick and now that my elbow is fixed,
I can swing that sucker like that old gal on Laugh In. Be forewarned, Bunkie.
I don't recall saying I'd never go. Just that I would never pay that much for a ticket. However if I were to win a ticket, I'd consider it. :)
Wouldn't pass up a chance to go to PP.
Which brings me to the next question. How are the ticket sales going? Anyone know?
Daily Free Love winners? http://www.boomerfestdays.com/bfd-free-tickets-camping-giveaway/
So doing a little research on this. If they give away a Free Love package a day for all of Aug and Sept....That will be about $173600 of promo dollars spent.
based on the $2800 price tag.
$30800 in prizes to date
Dawg, unless Uriah Heep is planning a fall tour in the US they'll be coming from Europe for the BoomerFest gig! Man, this BoomerFest deal is going global!!! A great rock concert like this will change the world baby!!! http://www.uriah-heep.com/newa/livedates.php URIAH HEEP LIVE DATES 2014

Hope the rumor is true Dawg and really hope the whole deal comes off as advertised and is a total success. It would be a lot of fun and great for the local economy.
This is what I would like to see happen with BoomerFest and Rocky Point. A wildly successful music festival that continues and prospers year after year and becomes legendary.
Lollapalooza marks its 10th anniversary in Chicago
Just happened to stumble upon Cox Channel 13 and Pat McMahon's show "The Morning Scramble" . He was doing a segment on BoomerFest and interviewing one of the lead singers and the promoter. Unfortunately didn't catch the singer's name.
Here are the links and the video of the interview will probably pop up later as it was just live about 8:10am this morning.
Pat asked the promoter about capacity, and he said they have room for 38,000 people. That seemed kind of crazy to me, but I have no idea how well promoted this event will be.

I did some random searches on the names listed on this page. You'd think that at least one of them would have a FB page and post something about winning tickets. That is if they have been notified.
Couldn't find a single one.

That's Steve McCarty from the Steve Miller Band. He spends a lot of time in Penasco.
The only way I'd pay that kind of money to hear all that noise is if these guys are the headliners. I understand they have recently reached their beak.

If those guys come to RP can I be your date for the concert Jack?
So I went down to the local watering hole ayer, I had told some friends about boomerfestdays and they went online just to check it out. saw the free drawing for tickets, and they won a set of 4, free love they said, told them where's my cut and they said enter on your own, I guess always have some faith.
I wonder what the reservation (condo) people are thinking. I went on to look at places for those dates and it was regular pricing. I know my place was blocked for awhile but then they took it off. I did talk to some other owner when I was down and they like I were worried about the large crowds renting. I just remember our Palm Spring place during the Coachelle Festival. Ugly. Some owners are going to blocj their place. I would be afraid of over crowding of units.
Are the numbers for condo rental reservations for the Boomerfest weekend up compared to the same time period last year? It's only 10 weeks out. You would think people would already be reserving rooms. Be a good indicator of the numbers planning to attend. Considering the age group being targeted and ticket prices I don't see many people sleeping in tents.
If you look at the map: https://www.boomerfestdays.com/map-of-boomerville/ There are several ridiculous things about it. First, has any construction begun? I'll drive out to see today. Second, look at how many campers there are, and how small the seating area is. There's no way they can fit all those people in there. Third, they say they are going to build roads, and again, no construction has begun to my knowledge. Fourth, they say there will be beachfront RV spaces with hookups at Playa del Oro, and if you look at the facebook page, Playa del Oro is desperately trying to get in touch with them. https://www.facebook.com/BoomerFestDays. Fifth, there are no sound stacks indicated, and as a former sound technician, that's an important part of any concert this size. Also the stage is ridiculouslty small. Comments?
I just took a good look at the proposed map. It is so obvous this thing is never going to happen. At least not the way they're advertising it. And, what is a "Silent Disco Tent"? Just the staffing to pull this off will cost a fortune. I can't believe anybody would actually send these people money.

The taco tent a tiny 15 feet by 20 feet! The line will stretch half way to San Felipe
If you look at the "celebrity golf tournament" page, they don't name any celebrities. Really? They haven't booked anyone two months before the event? Please.
Ok, another red flag.. they show VW tents for four. You can buy these in the UK: http://www.firebox.com/product/3644/VW-Camper-Van-Tent but I can't find anywhere that rents them. I doubt they're buying them at 300 pounds a pop.
Staffing of ticket takers, security, first aid, cleaning of port-o-potties, garbage removal, cost of signage throughout the site. Who is going to be doing all this? Cost of buying the tents and whatever they plan on providing inside the tents (cots? real beds? linens?), are there showers? General staff people for giving directions and information. Food preparation - will permits be issued? Who is working with the Mexican government? The shuttle buses - where are they getting those? Who is going to be driving them? The logistics are absolutely absurd. Are they hiring Mexicans to do all this? If not, how are the Americans getting work visas to be able to work in Mexico? We've already talked about the difficulty in getting all the band equipment across the border.
Another thing I noticed is the woman whose name is on the map is also the same woman who has something to do with the Home Port who has been giving the interviews - Wendy Winzer. Who is she, what's her background? Does she work for Henry Altman?
Joyless people will never be happy, I bet if you guys ever hooked up you would walk away and say that sure was messed up, any way never happen cause Jerry does not spend-visit penasco, Que triste

Wtf? It's not a matter of being joyless. I'm a happy person! But are people supposed to just blindly send in hundreds of dollars for this without asking questions? I hate to see people get scammed and ripped off. You're just trying to stir the pot, aren't you? :p

Pretty happy myself and my hobby is trying to keep you ex-real estate scammers and lackeys from ripping off the folks...

Nope, I'm extremely happy, but I worked in the entertainment industry for 20+ years, and this is clearly not going to happen. There may be a small concert, but all the other stuff with RV spots, glam tents, etc. is just not likely, for the reasons we've all given here. Having said that, if you want to spend money on it, go for it, we're not stopping you. :)

Would that be working in the sex industry? Fair enough answer...
No not a troll Mel, Most people will wait and see and buy their ticket at the door, maybe pay more but they will see what they get, I don't think golfing and fishing will be big,
Hope Az Beachboy has his somewhat creepy plastic beads sales tent up.....I sort of like the idea of half nude 60 year old hippie earth goddesses strolling down the beach...flowers in the hair....colorful beads.
Happy was on here last night. He ~~~~~~me. Jepper zapped his arse.
yeah he's been here all along, must have like 10 pseudonyms, says he don't talk much, asked what happened to all the corvina now that the sea serpent took over!

Google is your friend! Wendy Winzer, Administrative Director for the Homeport project under the general contracting company, Consorcio Constructor de Obras Marinas SA de CV (CCOM)
My guess is Henry Altman paid her to map out the area, since she's already familiar with it? Total guess on my part. Her pic and the map below, with her name on it.
Very ambitious, at least looking at the map. I have my doubts (as many of us have had all along) that they'll be able to pull it off as they are saying. The clock is definitely ticking and October is not that far away.
