A new spin on an old proverb...

Moore RB Sez: I think it is the responsibility of all of us to make sure that everyone gets a fair and honest shot at reaching their greatest personal potential.
The rules of the game should favor no one. But, unfortunately in today's world they DO favor the people that are already the most comfortable... this is wrong in my opinion.
OK, Moore RB for President !!

On an extension of this thinking what do y'all think about the WikiLeaks and Anonoymous recent activity. I'm fascinated by thieves uncovering thieves. That Stratfor stuff is absolutely wild and hopefully acationable legally. The govt is so stupid to be paying these windbags for redigested information they have generated in the first place.

I've looked at the going on's of this deal for awhile now, and I know I shouldn't be, but I'm amazed at the stupidity of the "Wannabe CIA"..... This is a good overview, and if you haven't seen this one Roberto, enjoy.
What do Coke, Goldman, the Marines, and the Knights of Columbus have in common? They all paid Stratfor to act as their own private intelligence agency.WikiLeaks Goes Inside Corporate America's Wannabe CIA | Mother Jones

The hackers stated that Stratfor was "clueless...when it comes to database security". The passwords were not encrypted[SUP][12][/SUP] and many of the passwords were simply the name of the company.[SUP][11][/SUP] The failure to encrypt the passwords was called "an embarrassing mistake for a company specializing in security"

I personally think your last sentence sums it all up pretty nicely. Frankly, even if all of it is actionable legally, I would speculate that there would be no legal action taken. Agenda based Nepotism, favoritism and preferential treatment have compromised the rule of law quite completely in the US... The inmates are indeed running the asylum.

Regarding the point about thieves uncovering thieves... the only thing that was "stolen" was data, and data is nearly impossible to substantiate as real property when it travels over public wires (the Internet) to get from point A to point B. The Internet makes privacy and confidentiality as impossible to maintain as someone who who hangs their underwear on an open clothesline in their backyard, and then gets pissed when they catch their perverted next door neighbor out there taking pictures of it... :)

Don't hang your underwear outside if you don't want it to see the light of day...

Of coarse the new laws that are being considered for copy write infringement could change the way the interception of data is looked at as well.

Forum 1% er bootlickers take note:
According to a new survey by the Spectrem Group, “68% of millionaires (those with investments of $1 million or more)
support raising taxes on those with $1 million or more in income. Fully 61% of those with net worths of $5 million or more support the tax on million-plus earners.” Spectrem’s George Walper told the Wall Street Journal, “what this tells us is that there are a number of wealthy folks who said: ‘Gee, we need to increase taxes to stimulate the economy. No one likes to be taxed more, but the reality is maybe it has to be done.’”

Maybe you're not paying attention, or you're just looking where you want to... Are you saying that this little jab is not political?
His point may be factual, but his monkey business is political. This Monkey business is what our new friend posted first, at the top and up front. His "facts" are secondary, obviously.

The real problem is how many Americans are poor, not how much they pay in taxes.
There is a HUGE difference between not paying taxes and being poor. I know A LOT of people who do not pay taxes and by no means are poor. they might think they are poor but I find it hard to believe that someone with a big screen TV, premium package cable, high speed internet, laptop computer, smart phone with data package as being poor. they might be on welfare but they have plenty of money for what most of us would call luxuries in life including plenty of beer and cigerettes to go around.

Academic Failure - International Test Scores - Poor TIMSS Results well we are kicking Cyprus but!!!!! see fact filled link...yum yum
Hmmmm....

When I look at those results, what I see are the non-socialist zen buddhist Asians kicking EVERYONE's butt...

Note this little tidbit:

"some of the superior countries in grade 8 (especially the Asians) were not included in published 12th grade results. They do not need 12 grades."

But I don't think any argument with you on this topic is really warranted, Jerry... I am in full agreement that US Americans are, for the most part, completely deficient of spritual intellect. This is the unfortunate consequence of the complacency that arises out of decades of overt military dominance. We (US Americans) are, quite simply, spoiled children.

This is not a failing of the educational system in my opinion. It is the product of sloth. Education is not something a person is entitled too. It is (like most beneficial things) something that people must EARN.

If you fail to put in the effort, then you will fail to generate the benefit...

One of the section headings in Ray Cannon's book "The Sea of Cortez" (page 24) is titled: " Trabajo Means Travail"

Native Americans (native Mexicans) understand that reward can not come without struggle, or effort. I have always loved that philosophy.

Maybe you need to just start start hanging out at a different bar, or better yet, move to a better neighborhood. Trust me, we know where you're coming from.

Well Ralph here's a leson for you. I was a Newbie once and it took me a while to learn it.

1) When the Ancients mention the name Fox News, you must raise your fingers in the form of a cross to ward off the evil spirits.

2) A thread is only allowed to stay on topic for a few minutes. After that it is fair game.

Hmmm, so national health plans make smarter children... Got it. Moving right along....

What's wrong with war...? When a fight is justified (ie: the last option available when two parties can't reach a peaceful commercial accord) then take the gloves off and let the fists fly (metaphorically)

Legitimate war has nothing to do with imposing dominance over someone else. Legitimate war is about preserving the integrity of what you know to be right and just- it is about enforcing the sanctity of your beliefs. This is why we fought the Revolution. This is why we fought the war of 1812...

And it is why every US war since the war of 1812 (with the plausible exception of WWII) has been unjustified.

Calling the agressive, militant theft of someone else's resources (or women, or land) war is a linguistic mistake. War is the process of teaching the aggressor the error of their ways.

When a war is won, then aggression loses, and humanity benefits. When a war is lost, aggression wins and humanity loses. Get it?

Jerry- I often think you just like to take the other side of anyone else's point of view. I question whether you really even stand for anything yourself.
