Boat, Bus, Train or Plane trip to Loreto?

does anyone know of a public transportation system of any kind going from Puerto Penasco to Loreto?

bus, plane, boat or train.

It would be a fun trip to be able to go from PP to Loreto by boat, instead of through Los Angeles, Tijuana or Mexicali.

Take a bus to Guaymas then take the ferry to Santa Rosalia then bus south "
"Transportation in and around Santa Rosalia

The area of Santa Rosalia only has a population of 11,000 people and is framed by the beautiful mountains along the Sea of Cortez. Santa Rosalia received most of its fame from the copper deposits that had been found here back in the 1800's. Because of all of these copper deposits the then leader whose name was Porfirio Diaz made a deal with the French and let them have the area around Santa Rosalia to mine in and the French started a company here called "El Boleo." The French took this Mexican town and essentially turned it into a little French village. There are many buildings that were designed by Gustav Eiffel who was the designer of the Eiffel Tower which still stands in France today. All the architecture in this little town has been designed with French influence. In the 1950's the French left and the Mexican's took the land back because the copper mines were no longer yielding any copper. In the 1980's the mines were finally closed but all the French buildings and monuments still exist in this little town today.
You will find that there is a bus station in Santa Rosalia and it is located in the building that also provides ferry service. This building is right off the Mexican Highway 1. The bus station has buses that will take you to Mexicali in 19 hours and will cost you 1100 pesos, or Tijuana can be reached in 16 hours and cost 1000 pesos. You may also want to venture out to Guerrero Negro which is 4 hours away and will cost you only 230 pesos. There is another bus line that goes to the southern parts of Mexico like La Paz in 7 hours for 560 pesos; from there you can get to Mulege in 45 minutes for 90 pesos. You may also take a bus from Santa Rosalia to Loreto which will be about a 3-1/2 hour journey and cost you 205 pesos. There are also buses that go to San Jose del Cabo in 10 hours and cost 710 pesos.
If you would like to get to Guaymas you can take a Baja Ferry right off of the Mexican Highway 1. The ferry to Guaymas is about a 10-1/2 hour ride and will cost 700 pesos. The ferries run every day between the hours of 8am-3pm and then they re-open from 4pm-7pm. The ferries are in very high demand so you will need to make arrangements well in advance to get tickets. In the summer months you usually just need a day or two advance notices to be able to catch a ferry. If you wish to take your vehicle with you on the ferry boat you must make your ticket reservations a couple weeks in advance. The cost to take a vehicle on the ferry boat is around 2500 pesos per vehicle. You will be required to show a card stating that you are a tourist along with your vehicle registration and also a permit to have your vehicle in Mexico which you should have obtained at the border crossing near La Paz. If you wish to get to the Centro from the bus station or ferry station you should head out of the parking lot and take a right and then just stay on the road until you see the sign for Santa Rosalia.

Wow! thank u Jerry. U are a veritable encyclopedia of information on this subject. Hope all has been well with u. I have been inactive, because of exhaustion working with my cooperative, family illness and a brand new great grandchild coming our way. Janet of San Lorenzo, New Mexico
