Border Wall

Saw on the news that Martha McSally and Trump were in Yuma today. Martha said this wall you prevent cartel activity. Does she and Trump think the cartel guys walk through the desert between the USA and Mexico? They drive Cadillac's and new SUV's with all the proper documents. The wall is a total waste of money.

Saw the wall being build on highway 2 last month. From all the news I thought it was going to be an eyesore but I was surprised how awesome it looked. When you are close you can see the mountains through it and from afar it blends into the scenery. Double layer in most places. Not many could get through it.

With your logic, you don't have doors, windows or locks on your hovel right? You really don't understand that the Wall is just one of many tools to slow down the drugs and slave trade coming in from Mexico? In your mind are solutions all or nothing?

Slave trade? Do I have slaves in my neighborhood in Buckeye, AZ? So the drugs are carried on foot through the desert? You are as goofy as Trump!

Goofy ? Who’s the looney tune asking questions ?

I have a buddy who is with BP on the south eastern Az border, and hell yes the drug mules smuggle drugs through the middle of the desert all the time. And they traffic people, meaning illegals

As long as there is demand for drugs in the US and consumption remains mostly illegal, the Cartel will find a way to bring it here.
Pretty clever bunch of thugs. The wall will slow some of the flow down mainly in places where there isn't much of a barrier now.

Way to beat the Cartel is to legalize/decriminalize drugs or figure out a way to have people stop wanting them.
The first choice is doable but will take 10-20 years to accomplish, the 2nd is the Elephant in the room nobody wants to see.
(FYI: I think it's OK for people to use Alcohol and some drugs occasionally, if they consume you I have a problem with that).

Politicians and others say "We need to stop the flow of drugs" that = major $$ for law enforcement/prisons/court systems,
medical treatment, counseling, drug treatment and the list goes on. (same goes for Alcohol)
For the many, many Billions of $$ that brings in the Elephant will never be seen.

The interesting thing about human use of mood altering substances is that there is good evidence that use has occurred, throughout human evolution. History is peppered with people who were addicts but also some of the most productive and creative people. Maybe we need to acknowledge that we are never going to stop the use and learn to ride the horse better. Were things worse when opium, heroin, cocaine were legal? Were things better when Prohibition was in force? The destructive aspects of drug abuse are not caused by the presence of the drugs, rather by social and familial issues that create demand and that education can at least reduce significantly . We cannot stop illicit drug use but I believe we can reduce it to a less destructive level. Now please hand me that glass of Merlot.

Alcohol is one of the most toxic and unstable molecules this earth has ever seen. The classification of Alcohol and Drugs has done a disservice to the citizens of the US. Alcohol is a drug. Period. The difference should not be distinguished. That was done on purpose. Education leads to understanding. Alcohol is one of, if not the most dangerous drug on Earth.

Hamilton Morris might help you to understand DRUGS. A molecular chemist who can synthesize any compound on earth explains that alcohol is a drug and one of the most unstable molecular compounds you can put in your body. Highly toxic.

Drugs are not the problem. Fear and poor education are. Maybe throw in Christianity too.

Yup, and directly responsible for millions of deaths every year. So many people love alcohol that we don't speak of such things. aka The elephant in the room.

No, I think you misunderstood. We're talking about informal education. AKA culture. Your parents. People around you. The government. Has nothing to do with traditional education. They don't teach about drugs in school for or against. I did have one DARE class back in 1996 in sixth grade but that was the last time drugs were ever mentioned in school. Aside from, please don't bring them to school.

When we talk about poor education we mean when Steve's parents told him TO JUST SAY NO!!!! It's basically the Catholic equivalent of your dead uncle is watching you when you masterbate so don't masterbate, it's a sin!
