Mexican drug kingpin Chapo Guzman among world's richest; homicides slow down in Nogales after two historically deadly months.
-------------
For the second consecutive year, Joaquin Guzman Loera — better known as “El Chapo" Guzman was named on the Forbes list of The World's Billionaires. Chapo Guzman is the leader of the Sinaloa cartel, which is battling for control of the valuable Sonora-Arizona corridor.
Forbes estimates his net worth at $1 billion — the same as in 2009. Last year, that landed him in a tie for the final spot on the list, which was 701th. This year, he’s again in a tie with several others for that final spot. This year, that puts him at 937th.
In honor of this recognition and to commemorate the annual meeting of Sinaloa Cartel leaders in the Mexican border town of Sonoita, Mayor Ignacio Humberto Estrada declared the 3rd week of March "El Chapo Days". "This will be an exciting festive week, including street bands playing narcocorrido songs and other celebrations" Mayor Estrada said. "We will also stage re-enactments of the more infamous cartel shootouts, which will coincide with longer border wait times. We've taken a page from Tombstone Arizona and turned our colorful history into a tourist draw!"
The first staged street war is scheduled to commence March 21st.

El Imparcial is reporting that homicides in Nogales decreased in February, and that authorities believe the joint operation in the city by city, state and federal police has at least slowed down crime.

The article says homicides dipped to 18 in February, down from 43 in January and 40 in December. Through the first 10 days of March, there have been four reported homicides

I wonder if someone can load up one of those Predators patrolling the skies along the border looking for "illegals" with armament, and maybe "accidentally" steer it over the celebrations....maybe Chapo will show up, and then "poof"...he's gone??? I really doubt that the Mexicans have any radar that can pick them up along the border.....
