We went to the CEDO (http://www.cedointercultural.org/) presentation on the area's ecosystem. Fascinating stuff. If you have not checked it out they have a free lecture on Tuesdays. 2 PM in English and 4 PM in Spanish.
They also do a tour to El Pinacate reserve and you get to see the volcano craters and other geological stuff. El Pinacate is a world heritage designated location. You can see more information here: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1410/
The tour requires a minimum of four people but they prefer six. You can find information on the specific tour here: http://www.cedointercultural.org/content/view/6/8/lang,en/ (scroll toward the bottom.) They provide transport, and a guide. However if they do not have six they don't go the tour. We put our names down (two of us) in case they get a group together. If any of you are interested maybe we can get enough people together to get a trip going.
