Did you know that the U.S. Dept of State " strongly urges Americans to consult with their Medical Insurance Company prior to traveling abroad to confirm whether their policy applies Overseas & whether it will cover Emergency expenses such as MedEvac services. The Social Security Medicare program does not provide coverage for Hospital or Medical Costs outside the U.S." Note: Medigap supplemental insurance will pay for some emergency care outside the U.S., but only for the first 60 days abroad.
I've been having lively discussions in other Mexican locales re: Health Care for Foreigners within the Mexican Republic. Everything from accessing the IMSS ( Instituto Mexicano de Seguro Social ) pro's & con's - the CIMA Hospital network in Mexico, utilizing the Mexican Naval facilities for acute care, medical tourism, etc. Please feel free to contact me with questions or with your own experiences.
