Hacienda Las Fuentes re opening Friday 7/29. New operator, guy who is, or was, doing Mar Blu. The new owner of the property will be finishing the hotel and opening as a casino. Lots of activity on the property.

That's on Freemont on the left as you're approaching the Las Conchas entrace, correct? Or is it on the right (south) side of the street?

It is on Fremont one block past the intersection of Fremont and Sinaloa, right side of the street going toward Las Conchas.

Hey Roberto. I'm a confused old dolt. Can I assume the Hacienda is opening back up as a restaurant and the hotel (?) will be a casino?

Hacianda is my favorite restaurant in RP. I particularly like the Steak Ranchero.

I'm glad to hear the hotel will be finished. They were doing a beautiful job with the stone on the outside, then everything stopped.

As I understand it, the restaurant has been left pretty much intact and will open that way. Probably a whole new menu. Behind the restaurant is the unfinished hotel and meeting rooms. It is all interconected inside. That unfinished part will house the casino and I guess hotel rooms.
The property encompasses the entire block with a parking area and hotel entry along the paved side street (across from FMI).

Audsley wrote in another post: "Maybe the best hope for the Mirador area is to re-invent itself as Old Rocky Point South with antique stores, quality art and furnishings and restaurants that ladies like (cobblestones, fountains, vines, patios.) Located conveniently for Las Conchas and adventurers from the Mayan Palace, it might be able to compete successfully with the Malecon/downtown area by simply offering one amenity that is scarce in Rocky Point: convenient parking."

I hope the start of something like this for the Mirador is the completion of Hacienda Las Fuentes. Maybe other restaurants could copy their idea of Old Mexico, and start something- like Playa de Carmen south of Cancun (without the high priced stores).

How about moving the fish/shrimp peddlers to the Mirador????

BTW....does anyone know what's happening to the mall that was going up by the marina? The last 2 trips down, it looked like any activity had come to a screeching halt.

Restaurant is called Don Julios, still looks the same on the inside. All new staff. Menu quite extensive from Mariscos and steaks to Mexican Food. Excellent wine selection. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Buffet on the weekends. Parking lot has been quite busy, lots more locals.

Approval for finishing and changing the hotel expected today. Bingo will start first after completion of construction, then slots as permits are acquired.
