New and full moon's usually mean tides of 16 1/2 - 19 feet in Penasco.
2-3 times per year they get over 18 feet.
The past few high tides have been destructive from the combination of the high tide and the wind blowing from the SE and S
at 20+mph. (also home owners trying to control nature with walls that get undermined by the surge).
Sea bed around RP is pretty shallow you can go out 1/2 mile and only be in 25-30 feet of water.
That's why they get huge tide swings.

I have old pics of Las Conchas from 1987, and there were thousands of round rocks , along with plants on the dunes. Those are all gone now, atvs ruined the plants and people took the rocks, both kept the tides from eroding the dunes.

The high tide on Wednesday was very calm. The wind and surf were very light. We didn't see the big waves, surge and erosion we experienced on August 20th.

I would like to see them.

As other would.
