Hi all,
Can anyone provide any information on the best place to receive emergency medical services for someone staying on Sandy Beach? I've been down a bunch, and have been fortunate to have had no issues, but want to be prepared in case of emergency.
Thank you!

Someone posted a full report of medical services, primarily emergency, on here a while back.

It was very good, comprehensive and covered the whole area of Rocky Point.

Maybe someone remembers who did it.

Thanks for the in depth reply Terry, maybe we can get this pinned at top of this thread. Reading that makes me realize how dumb I am for going down so much and not being prepared. I'm going to start printing this along with car insurance for my trips.

Ben, that's what I have done since Terry first posted it. Better to have it and not need it rather than, well you know.

Thanks for this great information! Does anyone have info on RP doctors who are qualified to perform cortisone injections in joints (e.g., shoulder) and/or vertebrae?... or should we have this performed in the States?

I was reading the article in the paper this morning about some of the problems with medical care in Mexico. Because we are older and seem to be spending more time at our condo I got to thinking about what could happen. About 5 years ago, I feel and banged my leg up. Went to a Dr office somewhere in town. The Dr looked at it and ask when I had my last tetanus shot. (no idea) His nurse cleaned it up and gave me a tetanus shot. They said they could bill my insurance or I could pay. I asked how much and she said $8. I paid. A friend of my husbands had a heart attack in Puerto V and he said he got wonderful care. Has anyone had any experience with a hospital or emergency room?

We knew one guy that paid insurance for emergency air transport to PHX. They would have to stabilize first.

My advise...........

Keep your fuel tank topped off, your passport in your hand along with a thick wad of US dollars and make a run for the border!

Marybna, there must be at least one hundred horror stories on this website concerning the Gringo ripoff by Mexicans when medical services are needed. Do you think anything has changed?

Don't ever let someone die in Mexico, you will pay dearly.

The scammer with no name above most likely roosts with his stinking poop splattered black Zopilote buddies on the high line towers along the highway south of town just waiting for his piece of the action, meaning injured, dying and dead Gringo meat.

Something similar occurred to a character in ‘Gillespie’s Gold’ who died on the Mexican side and so they put him in the front passenger seat of a Jeep, doused him with tequila with his hat over his face and crossed back to the US reeking of alcohol. Just another drunk gringo returning from a weekend binge on the Mexican border.

That happened in Encanto several years ago, a family of several rented a place and an elderly person died in the rental. They put him in the back seat put the seat belt on hin and off to Tucson they went, showed up the next day to complete their vacation....
