Hey all you PPres or just plain old dumb visitors, like me, Does anyone have any comments about Optica Turati?

I checked some previous postings from a few years ago and found them to be rather complimentary and wondering if the same holds true, today.

I hate to start such a mundane thread, but I always hope to learn from this forum.

Jack, I bought glasses from them 4 or 5 years ago, within a week the the part of the hinge that inserts into the part, that goes into the ear separated, so I went back and was told they had to order the piece, so there went another hundred bucks, you'll be lucky if they have frames big enough for your head...

Sorry bout my comment Jack, You can buy some nice transition glasses without frame for 135 at lensco here in Tucson, I had my own frame so it took like ten days and they were what they said. I had an old pair of maui jim frames that worked great.

Nice people, free exam with purchase of frames and lenses, decent selection of frames, not much, if any, cheaper than U.S. If you have to go to Yuma for something else, much cheaper in Algodones, but not worth the ride over just for glasses.

Jack check out Walmart glass center, wife said they had good deal going. Dont know how much. Just take that brick slinger with you, just in case.

I am not familiar with the place you speak of.

However my wife is an optometry Tech. for a private practice here in Mesa.
I have learned a lot over the years and it's like this.

Unless the place you go has an in house Lab then you can not blame the Office for defective or inferior hardware. The benefits of going to a specialist is the quality of the exam. Most will have books that have other frames you can order if you don't see something on their boards you like. The lab they use is where things can get iffy. Bad lab, bad hardware.

To save money go to Walmart and I believe Sam's club has optical as well. Maybe not there but worth looking into. What you save on hardware is generally lost in the quality of the exam and therefore the the end result, generally your vision is where you will see the difference. No pun intended.

Just my 2 cents, and I where glasses so I do have some frame of reference. Again no pun intended.

Carnac, I'm amazed you came out of the woodwork, seeing as how since it became your turn to buy breakfast you have fallen off the face of the earth.

I guess it was worth the shot to make a comment about the size of my extra large brain filled noggin.

It is my turn to buy, when it was your turn, you mentioned McDonalds, and when I protested, I thought you where gonna have a heart attack.....and your big noggin, haha...like I told you one day, stick with me and youĺl be farting through silk....

By the way,on the inside othe arm of glasses is generally a number between 47 and 52. That is the width of the frame. I wear a 57! Fat brain indeed. You can always ask them to see if they have wider frames in a style you like. And you can always tell before trying them on whether or not they are waisting your time. These days mens frames are always so fefeminine, my current frames are actually normally used for sun glasses. Dont see something you like, look at the sun glasses and have them fit the lense to something super slick Jack!
