Here's a real interesting website and blog about farming pearls and the ecological effects of this farming. Lots of good stuff here about the sea of Cortez. Made me wonder if it would be possible in the Penasco area.

I read that there was an infection of some sort that markedly reduced the population and yes some blamed the Japanese. The Japanese conection was debunked and from this blog the population is increasing. How about we move some to Santo Thomas?

Think it is to rough...I also heard Chows came to Mexico as guard dogs for Japanese run operations in the 20's
