Should the US Consolate get involved in Puerto Penasco Real Estate problems

We got the US Consulate on the phone while we were being forced out of our house in Las Conchas by Francisco Hernandez Mandujano, aka "the Ladron" and the police with very large guns. They advised us they could not do anything, but to send them all the paperwork so they could monitor the situation as it progressed, which we have done. They also told us that we should do whatever would keep us out of the Penasco jail that night as it has a very bad reputation. So, being 2 middle aged women, we elected to go to a hotel because our house was full of the ladron's family (on the advice of his lawyer to "appear" he lived there when the police came). He was supposed to vacate it the next day, but has had possession of it since that night. Of course, he has NEVER lived there, just continues to rent it out. And although the Mexican court has ruled in our favor against him, he still retains possession until his appeal has run its course. I personally think it is a good thing that the consulate keeps an eye on the happenings in Penasco; I'm just not sure what they are able to do in the long run.

The Consulate protects Americans abroad. The flim flam men and women of the real estate community on both sides of the border had hurt many Americans in mexico, The consulate is now getting involved in Northern Baja and will soon be doing the same in Sonora.Red flags will be going up about business practices much like the road safety warnings...This is a good thing for all(except the crooks)

When you build your economy primarily on the basis of finance and real estate, as the US appears to have done during the past two decades, you are relying on economic sectors renowned for their fickle and unreliable properties. When you then combine them via unscrupulous lending and tricky derivative activity, you are definitively playing with fire. You had better have a back up plan.
