Malia Obama is safe and out of harm’s way following an earthquake in Mexico today, where the president’s eldest daughter is on vacation.
“In light of today’s earthquake, we can confirm that Malia Obama is safe and was never in danger,” the first lady’s Communications Director Kristina Schake said.
Reports that Malia was traveling in Mexico for spring break with friends first surfaced Monday. As always, the White House requested journalists not report on the whereabouts of the president’s children.
The White House repeated that today, asking that “the media respect the privacy and security of the Obama children and not report on or photograph the girls when they are not with their parents.”

[h=3]General Conditions:.....Mexico[/h]Millions of U.S. citizens safely visit Mexico each year for study, tourism, and business, including more than 150,000 who cross the border every day. The Mexican government makes a considerable effort to protect U.S. citizens and other visitors to major tourist destinations, and there is no evidence that Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) have targeted U.S. visitors and residents based on their nationality. Resort areas and tourist destinations in Mexico generally do not see the levels of drug-related violence and crime reported in the border region and in areas along major trafficking routes.

Santorum is a moron, and you pom pom wavers should be thrilled that our president let Malia go to Mexico.

Very simply it's good for the tourist industry that Malia was allowed to go to Mexico, even though she might have more security than normal. And Joe, you of all people should understand the concerns that a father has for his daughter, and it's safe to say he doe's have enemies that wouldn't think twice about getting to him through his family.

It's S.O.P. to try and keep his daughter's out of the public spotlight, no matter where they might be outside of their "normal" circle.

Brilliant... the logic is almost laughable:

1) The Secret Service makes anyplace safe enough for a politician's kid.

2) If you are a politician's kid, go ahead and go where you want (on the taxpayer dime)

3) If you are a taxpayer, don't you dare go wherever YOU want, because the world is unsafe, and we wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you. After all, we need your labor and your money right HERE paying those taxes that we use to cover the secret service costs necessary to keep OUR children safe to go anywhere they want...

I could puke.

Moore, It's hard to know what's logical when you'er puking your brains out:lol:... Nothing new here...
Four days before leaving office, President Bush signed a directive authorizing the Secret Service to provide a period of extended protection for his daughters Jenna and Barbara.

Under the law, the adult children of an American President lose their Secret Service protection when their father leaves office.

But following the lead of Bill Clinton, who authorized an extended period of coverage for daughter Chelsea, Mr. Bush made the same provision for his daughters. He signed a presidential directive on January 16, 2009. The Secret Service requested that the length of the additional protection not be disclosed .

A Secret Service spokesman admits getting it wrong last week when he told the Washington Post that Mr. Obama signed an Executive Order authorizing extended protection for the Bush daughters.

And The Bush Daughters, a Secret Service Headache
Ditching security, excessive drinking, a barroom scuffle: Should we be the least bit surprised by this information? After all, the Bush daughters had something of a reputation for these antics before Kessler's book made news. Their now-famous trip to Argentina (what is it with good times and that South American country?) to celebrate their 25th birthday resulted in the kinds of headlines that no Secret Service boss could want, and the U.S. Embassy kindly requested that the young ladies cut their vacation short and return stateside.

Go ahead, dry heaving is cleansing..

Kenny...my point was that the State Dept. was issuing warnings about travel to Mexico...while Obama's daughter went to Mexico.....all the Presidents abuse their Secret Service protection (Dem./Repub?)...although, Obama's family "vacations" seem a bit extravagant and frequent, considering the state of the economy...but that's probably Fox News talking (or Rush....)...right??? :stir:....

White House Acknowledges Scrubbing Malia Stories | The Blog on Obama: White House Dossier

The White House today offered Politico a statement on why it has pressured news organizations to withdraw their stories about Malia Obama’s vacation to Mexico.

"UPDATE: Santorum today waded into the Malia Mexico issue, saying with Malia’s trip, President Obama is suggesting to Americans it’s safe to travel to Mexico, when it’s not."

Apparently it is safe enough for the president's daughter..

THIS IS KIND OF FUNNY FOR YOU REPUBLICANS THAT LIKE TO GO TO MEXICO (AKA THE REPUBLICAN ROCKY POINT CHEER SQUAD). You LOVE Mexico but HATE Obama, so when he sends his kids to Mexico, who do you side with? LOLOLOL I DONT KNOW WHO SCARED/SCARES ME MORE, SARAH PALIN or RICK SANTORUM... he is officially out of his mind. Keep fear mongering alive RICKY!!!!!

Kenny...and Mex Joe....you both miss MY point....gotta take off those "rat fink pinko commie glasses".....I couldn't care less where Obama's kid goes for spring break (although a 13yr. old going wtih 12(??) of her friends to Mexico????...and the articles didn't say that mommy went with her)....just funny that the State Department is issuing it's usual "warning" right before spring break...but the President's daughter is going to this dangerous, cartel infested location! But that's right...she had 25 armed Secret Service with her, and a bunch of Mex. military also protecting her!!! Has nothing to do with any rah-rahing.....

If you guys actually know any Mexicans just the fact that President Obama entrusted his daughters safety to them at this time with all the crap he would take for doing it was both a honor and debit that will be repaid 100 times full in some other manner.
