Good article.

I'm surprised it's taken this long. The "war" on drugs was lost years ago. Sooner or later, the U.S. is going to have to admit that fact and come to grips with it. Legalization would take away the criminal aspects of drug addiction, eliminate the rampant violence associated with drugs, and if government controlled and taxed, create a revenue stream for the government instead of criminal enterprises. Prohibition didn't work for alcohol, it doesn't work for drugs, either. It only creates black markets.

People are going to do it whether it's legal or not. Our government still believes that they can legislate morality. Until that changes, don't expect the demand for illegal drugs to drop anytime soon.
