Direct TV

We took our Direct TV with us when we camped at Playa Elegante. We used the zip for Rocky Point, Lukeville, Tucson, etc. It never worked. We just had to move it back and forth, up and down until it found the signal. We always got it running, but it took us forever (and lots of cussing by hubby).
Once I got a digital signal strength meter, it made it much easier....I used to go thru the same thing you describe before the meter.
Stay away from the analog meters....there is too much of a lag, and when you're tired and/or impatient, you will miss the signal.

like I said ***** not to fast and be aware of where you are pointing so when it tones you know where to go back to. The window of the signal is very small.

Get a meter....the angles and degree numbers they give you are worthless.

I was able to activate my receivers in Mexico. I only problem was I couldnt dial the 1-800 number from Mexico, so I had to call DirectTV corporate and have them transfer me the right dept
