The ones with the spots are Spanish Macks but either way good eating if you eat them right away. The meat doesn't hold very well but excellent for ceviche. Awesome report! Keep em coming!!!

We caught a bunch of these bonefish... these are bonefish, right? I also fished the point of the estuary from the Playa Encanto side, one of the other guys caught a flounder and supposedly someone caught a sea trout the previous day. They caught the flounder with a kastmaster.

Those are mullet. And the sea trout was probably a corvina.
Negative sir. OP is correct. That is a BONER and they are fairly common in the spring time. Also known as the poor man's Tarpon and they are supposed to be really fun on the fly rod.

Thanks for correcting me on that. Looks like eastern pacific bonefish maybe? I’ve caught them on the fly and they are a blast. I’ve had great success catching them from shore just after sunset with a black clouser minnow.

Nice to see you guys still posting fishing stuff. I'm reserving my next VRBO right now for early June. We'll have a couple of Kayaks and will be in the Los Conchas area. This is my favorite beach because of the rocks. Our families snorkel there and we see beautiful colorful fish there all over the place.

This time, I was thinking about doing some shore fishing with bait and some silver spoons and maybe a white shad jig. I was also thinking about kayaking outside of the rocks and drifting with the current.

My buddy has a small aluminum boat with an electric motor. If we have an electric motor, does that mean the Marines will make us regret not getting a bunch of permits?

With what I've got available, what would you recommend targeting?

Trolling in front of Los Conchas in 25-35 ft water you will catch rock bass and some smaller grouper up to 5 lbs as well as some trigger using rapalla divers. Hit the estuary area as tide is going out for best bite. Good Luck and enjoy

I usually troll around 4-5 mph when fishing there. I don’t know how an electric motor would move you along for that speed. If you are just drop fishing in out going tide in front of Estuary front of Condo Tower Tesoro you might be ok. Fish like to catch what’s moving out of estuary on out going tide.

Great. And what about a permit? Would you get a permit because it has a "motor"?
