Just wondering if anyone knows how much it costs to buy Lipitor or the generic equivalent in Puerto Peñasco?
The doctor just changed my husband's medication from generic Zocor to generic Lipitor. He could get the 1st one for $17 per month, but this new one costs over $100 per month. (Our insurance has a $5000 deductible.)

Would he need to get a new prescription from a doctor there?

Thanks so much!

... Or, does everybody just have insurance good enough to afford it in US pharmacies?

I have the same type of health insurance. No prescription drug coverage until I spend my $5000 deductible. So, I buy 20mg Crestor at Guadalapana in RP. Comes 30 to a box and costs $64. I split them and take 10mg per day so my cost is $32 per month. I used to take generic Lipitor, and it was less. Don't remember the exact price. I asked them if I needed a prescription from a local doctor and they said no. They speak perfect English and are great to deal with.

Thanks Landshark. Sounds great. I don't mind price shopping when we are there. Just wanted to make sure it is significantly cheaper than here. Sounds like it is.

Hello Kea... when you are price shopping down here, if you stop in and check prices at "Cosmos 2000" by the Rail Road Crossing on "Domingo Juarez", tell Pedro you are friends of ours (Barb & Mark) and that we sent you, he will give you a discount...

Why didn't you tell us that this morning. We were just there and I must say their pricing was good without your discount.

Next time we will bring you up.

I don't know. I took 6 different kinds of BP meds befor we found this one that works. I guess i could try generic first but buy Tribenzor in case it doesn't work...... I had a bit of a time 2 years ago with my BP. It was 185 over 150 when I went to the Doc......Long story.

Hi Mark, thanks for the referral. We've gotten pretty good pretty good prices on asthma inhalers through Pharmacia Descuetas. And we've gotten something else at Cosmos, but I don't remember what it was -- they had the best price even without your discount!

@ Mondone -- We did check into the $4 Lipitor. Turns out that's if your co-pay is less than $50. Otherwise you get $50 off per month. That brought the price down to a bit over $150 per month. The $115 - $120 for the generic was a better price. I'm really hoping we can get it in Peñasco for significantly less -- under $30 or $50 would be fabulous!
