    Fishing Kayak Rigging

Barely enough cerveza in all of Reggie's to drown my sorrows for it! :) Good luck out there, in October I launched from Las Conchas and ended up pulling all my lines and gear in very quickly as a whale shark that was bigger than the 'yak decided he wanted to check me out up close and...

    Fishing Kayak Rigging

Oh nice! That will seriously make your life so much better; nothing worse than being a mile out and your seat rips out from behind you. Mine's about 3 years old.

    Fishing Kayak Rigging

I have that yak. Be aware, the padeyes break quite a bit so buy a few extras and a pack of extra rivets (both are sold at bass pro). The front and rear carry handles broke almost instantly (old broom handle or some 1" PVC works fine as a sub). The hatches don't seal 100% but this isn't much...

    Sandy Beach Fishing Video

For sure! Either way, I've never caught a fish more eager to impale its entire face on a treble hook.

    Sandy Beach Fishing Video

I think it's a longstanding debate as to the proper name for that fish. I've heard locals call them "pampano" but they're definitely Leatherjacks/Longjaw Leatherjacks or relatives thereof. I'm not a biologist so I'm not sure if slight differentiations in coloring would warrant a completely...

    6/4 - 6/12 report

Just got back from Las Conchas and I'll second what Evan said! Lots of rat sized Leatherjacks chasing bait balls right on the beach, but a few Corvina in there too! Didn't have time to make tacos out of this one so gave it to the guys at Asadero Viva Mexico. Good stuff

    Corvina are in!!

    Good to hear! :)

    Corvina are in!!

Did you head out to inspect them? We saw one huge DARK black blob about 150 yards off shore so I paddled out to it in the yak. It turned out to be THOUSANDS of those blue jellyfish!!! Just a big blue ball of terror rolling down the coast and dumping a few off every so often like an alien mob...

    Corvina are in!!

Not nearly as much as last year down south, but they're still around. Hopefully it's good around Conchas for ya!

    Fishermen Rumble

Why spear the Roosterfish? Only reason I ask is I've heard they aren't good eating, never had one personally though.

    Corvina are in!!

Close to Pinta, but off the beaches, standing about waist deep and casting. Bite was AWESOME on the calm days. Friday and Sunday didn't get much :/

    Corvina are in!!

    'tis true!

    Inshore over the reef tips.

Possibly, area workable by kayak? Any chance those rocks hold roosters :) (probably a little early on the year for them to be so far north, but one can dream right?)?

    High tide at JJ's

This was last year in June. First time I'd ever seen it that high, good times.

Table Fare Thoughts on Inshore Fish

Morning everyone, Just curious, how do you guys rank the in-shore/surf fish in terms of their table worthiness. I've only ever kept Corvina for eating, but I've heard that Triggers and Guitarfish are also good? What about Leatherjacks? Sand Bass? Mackerels? Do you guys have a list of ones...

    Surf Casting for Shark

Thanks Kenny, got one of those on squid last June, was hoping for something a little more toothy. Landshark, not sure exactly what you're referring to, but if the sharks wear white security hats and take $20 bills as bait, I think I'll pass on that one :D

    Surf Casting for Shark

Thanks Jerry, sounds like I wouldn't have to worry about anything much more than 4 feet or so just reading through as much as the Google machine will tell me. If anyone else has any info it'd be much appreciated! Thanks, Tony
