Another 4x4 sunk in Cholla Bay

We saw a white SUV out there on the far east side of Cholla Bay whilst catching clams on this past Saturday afternoon. The fool was out there a mile or so mired down in a flowing channel with the frame on the mud and all four wheels lost in deep water filled muck holes. During the next few hours we saw at least a dozen 4x4 trucks, quads and twenty or more people attempting to dislodge it........a hopeless task to be sure. At around three as the tide was rushing in we were eating fish tacos at JJ's in the sweltering heat the vehicle was still out there and all of the helpers had left for high ground.

Fools take heed.....don't ever drive out in de muck cause you just might get stuck...permanently!

Brings back a lot of memories, back when JJ's was a popular night spot 20+ years ago we witnessed probably 10 different times
cars parked near the scale on the lava rock submerged with water to the middle of the windows during a good high tide.

One weekend there were 8-10 cars sitting in 3 feet of water with their windows down with water surging back and forth
thru the open windows.

When all the drunks come out, the looks on their faces told it all. We even tried to explain earlier what was going to happen
to the cars but were met with a Sh_t Faced look back and they went partying on.
Funny at the time but sad for those who had it happen to them.

The owner is lucky it's Mexico. If it were the US, they'd be fined millions and thrown in jail for hazardous waste contamination of a water way, environmental damage, and threatening the habitat of some endangered snail no one has ever heard of. The news media would make it out to be Deepwater Horizon Part 2 and the Coast Guard would be lining the beaches for hundreds of miles in every direction with oil booms and oil absorbers. Emergency response teams from across the country would be storming the beaches. Oh, the horror!!!
