F#CK THE CHINESE!!! Pieces of sh!t... This is what they do to the Rhino too. Pisses me off. Can't really blame this on the Mexicans. Demand creates supply unless you're a Regan Republican...

I was thinking the same. Why dont they ruin their own waters.

I would assume it's because they already have.
Indeed. You know how totuava bladders became known to the Chinese? Because there are only two places in the world with populations of them -- one WAS the Yellow River basin in China and the other, as you know, is our own Sea of Cortez. The ones in the Yellow River are all but gone. There was a story not too long ago of a Chinese fisherman that caught one and it was said to be worth millions. With theirs gone, they're willing to pay to get ours (well, Mexico's).

Sad.

"Kinda sorta" as I understand it. The fish in China is the Chinese Bahaba, another croaker whose bladder is also super dee duper medicinal. Similar to the Tototaba, there are still small populations of the fish around:

Perhaps not so ironically, the Bahaba spawns at the mouth of the Yangtze River which was formerly the home of the (now extinct)...drumroll... Yangtze River Dolphin!
