    Visas?

We go down a couple times a year, usually for about 4 days. I'd read on this forum that you supposedly need a Visa if staying more than 72 hours. Can any one tell me, do I need to get visas for my family if we're going longer? And if so, where is the most convenient place to get one? I heard...

Best time of year for shore fishing?

I always have better at or near high tide so don't just fish low tide. Here's your picture with the area I fished circled. You can see the road coming in and the collection of buildings. It didn't stink when I launched from there, but maybe I was just lucky.

Best time of year for shore fishing?

I kayaked La Pinta. No one was even there except the pangas which were launching to go out to sea. People do guided kayak tours of the estuaries and I've seen adverts to fish the estuary from a kayak. You just aren't supposed to take a real boat in there as far as I can tell.

Best time of year for shore fishing?

Will do! I'll be in an orange kayak.

Best time of year for shore fishing?

Maybe I'll see you there. I'll be down June 7-11 and plan on launching the kayak into La Pinta sometime around high tide. I had good luck on corvina there last fall. I've caught some of those leatherback on Kastmasters off the beach southeast of Morua estuary. Along with needlefish and puffer...

Beach House for Easter Weekend - Any Tips/Leads?

These are on Encanto, Dorado, and Miramar beaches. They are private, about 20 minutes south of town, and always quiet, at least when we've been there. http://www.oceanvacationcenter.com/

The fishing was great for Corvina.

    Fishing at La Pinta

Hi, I did go and launch from the area labeled "shore launch" on Wahoo's map earlier in the thread. It's on the opposite side of the estuary from the Mayan and an easy drive with 2-wheel drive. The area was heavily used by commercial fisherman but they didn't seem to mind me parking and launching...

    Crowds in June?

No kidding. We may be down the 6th. Maybe I'll try to get down a couple days early. Have to talk to the boss and/or line up a baby sitter :)

    Crowds in June?

Is Rocky Point very crowded in early June with school out? I'm pretty sure it's not, but the folks going with me wanted me to check. Thanks!

    Early June Weather

We're planning a trip down in early June. We'll be right on the beach and we like warm weather (from Tucson) but we'll have no Air conditioning, just fans. Will the weather be OK, especially for sleeping? It looks like the weather down there is nice in early June before the monsoon hits, but I...

    Rockypointtalk fishing tournament

Wahoo, that is a nice-looking Corvina taken from the kayak. I'd be interested in inshore if this coincides with our trip if it's early June or late May. Would a kayak be sufficient?

The Log from the Sea of Cortez

Great book, especially the parts relating to beer. :coldone: The library usually has it -- it's lit'rature you know.

    Sardines?

Some of the little fish I've seen in schools along the beach looked different than the ones in the video. The kids caught them by hand by driving them up on shore. They were about 6 inches long and look had a mackerel pattern on the back (at least it was similar to the markings of my...

    Early and late for Corvina?

My experience is limited, but I've been fortunate to be catch a few so will add my 2cents. I've always caught them from a kayak, never from shore, but always near shore. I've only ever caught them when the tide is high or going out (but have never tried an incoming tide). I have never caught...

    La Pinta Shore Report 10/1-10/2

Yes, there were a lot of pangueros when I was there and what I saw were big loads of some sort of clams or oysters or other shelled critters coming up in the backs of their pickup trucks. They probably don't bury because it's just more work. I didn't feel terribly welcome but not threatened...

    Fishing at La Pinta

I just returned. Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday were too choppy to fish. Tuesday the water was like glass so I went over to La Pinta in the area labeled "Shore Launch" on Wahoo's marked up satellite photo. There were a lot of Pangueros there and I was way out of place as the only Gringo there...
