    CFE...Don't trust, and verify!

We put cash in the CFE account and just refresh it periodically. So far it has always balanced to the penny for us. One thing I learned was how to check the remaining balance at CFE, if you set up an online CFE account,. Any credit balance you have doesn't show on your bill. Log into your...

    Driving at night

I have seen soooo many idiots with Daylighters etc driving at night here blinding everyone on the road without any concern at all. I am not talking off road, I mean north of the city on Bonito Juarez, east on Freemont etc. Somehow they seem to equate how many lights they can buy and turn on with...

    Mercado Central

There really isn’t anything like that in Penasco that I am aware of. Have been coming since 79 and now live here full time. I will admit that even now I am periodically surprised by finding out about something I never knew existed here.

Recommendation for honest water truck delivery person

The main water plant was closed last Friday-Monday for Easter weekend. Although city water was flowing the water trucks couldn’t fill up. Was that the shortage that was mentioned in the OP or is it something more than that. Virtually all the trucks fill up at the same place near the ball park.

    Local hangs

There are a lot of Americans that live in Penasco. One place I see many hang out in the evenings is Bryan’s on Freemont. They open at 4:00. Also onThursdays at 4 a group called Connections meets at the restaurant on the patio at Playa Bonita.

    Dumb question, but ...

We live full time in Penasco and I love hotdogs, but I think my taste is biased by my American upbringing. I have tried every brand I can find here and so far don’t like any of them other than US brands that some places carry.

    Foreign Terrorists in Mexico

It’s not surprising to me at all. The cartels know it’s bad business to commit violent crimes against Americans. It’s purely a business decision.

    Permanent residency visa

Just as an FYI. The US is one of only two countries in the world that tax personal foreign income.

    developers create a environmental disaster

I live in Playa Encanto and am setting right now looking at the estuary. I love sitting on my porch watching wild life as well as watching people at work at the oyster farm across the water. What I see isn’t speculation or assumption, it is what I have personally observed There are definite...

Giant Solar project , El Homeport back from the dead and a 4 lane toll road to the border!

I didn’t go back to reread all the posts but most of the power from the solar plant is going to Baja. Baja is not currently connected to the rest of the CFE grid and CFE buys power from the US at very high rates. The solar plant is meant to minimize or eliminate the need to buy power from the...

Giant Solar project , El Homeport back from the dead and a 4 lane toll road to the border!

Desal last minute push by Dougie

I found this today. I explains a lot including that there are two different proposals being looked at. It seems if anything is going to happen with a desal plant it’s not going to be soon...

Giant Solar project , El Homeport back from the dead and a 4 lane toll road to the border!

We went out to the solar farm yesterday and drove all the way to the airport (about 4 miles off the Caborca Hwy). It truly is unreal. I tried to get some pics but wasn’t up high enough to get a good perspective. There are thousands of solar panels. I tried to attach a pic but keep getting “sever...

    Big Solar event today

The solar plant is right next to the airport. We drove by it a few days ago. I have no idea how many solar arrays there are but it is HUGE, as in you have never seen one this big. There are hundred of arrays installed and this is just phase 1.

I agree. I wish fusion power plants were 10 years away but it’s unfortunately going to be a lot longer.
