Now for the bad news

And I would really hate to put AZ pinstripes on my new $40k ride.
Impressive stuff right there. A truck stops enesto from committing vehicular homicide.
So ernesto, in what price range of truck would you have to be driving in order to bring your dreams true?

Fuck that BS. Listen, we're on the same team and I don't set policy or law so please move to the side while I drive through. Or I would be definitely going around in the DEZERT

Is the road blockage still a problem at the border? I read where they intend to block it this weekend.

I have a 16 year old goddaughter on this forum. I wish we could do without the filthy language. Thanks
If you said 10 I might consider your stance. 16?! The F word?! Huh???????? That's the problem. Too many safe spaces... I used to go to NFL games with my dad in our season tickets at a very early age. Could you imagine my dad turning around to someone and saying, hey buddy, we have a 6 year old here! NO! We can't imagine that because it didn't happen in 1990. I'm sorry.. I'm sure your god daughter is an angel just like the rest of the 16 year olds of the world but this forum is the real world. Welcome god daughter. Maybe ear muffs might help her??????

Talk about bad news----> This is a true story, these are my friends. This happened just south of Rocky Point on the road to Mayan Palace. They were past the Mayan when it occurred.

Can't see it unless you're a facebooker!

After having some time to gather my thoughts, I decided to post my story here. This evening as my husband and I and our two youngest daughters were headed down to Mexico, my family was high jacked on the road. From what we can gather, there must have been someone waiting on the side of the road looking for the perfect opportunity. We had been traveling in our 2017 Toyota Tundra TRD PRO along with our 20 foot tandem axle trailer that was carrying 3 quads, one of my husbands mountain bikes, all our ice chests as well as our luggage and food for several days. About 6:00 PM a grey sedan pulled up alongside the drivers side door and pulled out a AK-47 and pointed it directly at my husband. He was ordered to pull over or be shot. Immediately my husband pulled over and was ordered out of truck with a machine gun still pointed at his face. As he got out of the car, a member of the cartel aka drug member began to get inside the truck with our daughters and myself still inside. Recognizing that the cartel member was going to drive away with his family still inside, Mason pleaded with the man to let his family get out. Within seconds we all made a snap decision and exited the car immediately. It was so immediate in fact that as the truck drove away, all the doors were still opened. Right before the cartel member left, he ordered my husband Mason and I to give him our phones and sped away without hesitation. As we stood in the middle of the Highway, we were all in shock. It took a quick second to process what had just happened before the fear that we could still be in eminent danger hit me with full force. Quickly I grabbed both of my daughters and ran them into a nearby field. My youngest daughter Claira had no shoes as we ran through briers and tall bushes. Meanwhile, Mason ran back up to the road to try to wave someone down. After a few minutes a van from a nearby mine stopped to see what was the matter. Because Mason speaks Spanish, he was able to relay the story of what had just happened. The miners had our family quickly load their van and took us down a side dirt road. At this point, both of the girls were in tears while one of them began to hyperventilate. Because I don’t speak or understand perfect Spanish, I didn’t understand who we were with or where we were going. For another few seconds, I thought that this could also be part of the cartel and they wanted our family. Quickly Mason reassured me that we were safe. Within 10 minutes we arrived at a Mexican military outpost and were being escorted through the barbed wire fence. Once again, Mason handed the communications while I took the girls into a cinder block bunker. At this point we were able to make some very important calls. I was able to contact our dear friends Aimee and Phil Lamoreaux who quickly ran over to my neighbors home who is an active CIA agent. I gave them the information they needed and our current location. Within moments, we were on the phone with Washington and those who could help us. The American Consulate was notified and we were told that help was on the way. After about 30 minutes at the outpost, we again boarded another mining van which would take us to Rocky Point to safety. Because the border closes at 8:00 PM, we were informed that we could not get home tonight. We were dropped off at the Las Palomas Resort where we went inside to see if we could stay for the night. Upon entering, we were told that the resort was at 100% capacity and no rooms were available. As we walked back into the lobby, we saw another couple just arriving to check in. They saw our disheveled state and asked us if we were all right. We told them our story and the situation we were in. Without hesitation they both decided to have us stay with them for the evening. They own a 3 room flat on the 8th floor and said they had 2 extra beds. It took just a look at our daughters and their faces to know we would gladly and gratefully accept their offer. Now here I sit in this borrowed, beautiful room in dirty clothes without any possessions we came with and beyond grateful for the blessings of this day. My family is safe, our children were not taken, our lives were prolonged and I am reminded again that God lives and watches over each of us. Tomorrow the American Consulate will arrive and escort us home after the border opens. A huge thank you to each of our children back at home who helped in every possible way they could and for Ange and Sal Alcantar for jumping in quickly to cancel all our bank cards/visas.
To everyone else, thank you all or your prayers and concern.
Much love, Natalie and Mason

For those mean spirited people ou there who are sending messages to my children saying this is an attention grabbing, made up story, shame on you. In no way would we ever wish this upon any family. You clearly do not know the caliber of our family and the integrity that we uphold.

Thanks for posting. Phones have been burning up about this incident so I'm pleased to get a first hand account. I don't actually know these people, but I know OF them and where they were going. This kind of stuff can have a chilling effect on tourism just when RP seems to be reviving its tourist-dependent businesses. I hope the law catches up with these guys and publishes their names. How hard should it be to catch some guys with a toy hauler, some ATVs and a 2017 Tundra, all of which have serial numbers and descriptions? If we don't read about some arrests pretty quickly I'll have to assume these guys have sponsors with a lot of influence.

This outrageously horrible. I personally know Ted and CJ and have spent time with them in Lobos on several occasions. Two of the most honest and real people you will ever meet.

The horror... the horror of that story. It's a shame that gringo families are now targets. I couldn't have cared a bit when it was cartel vs. cartel killings. Still sad, but now actively targeting gringos?

Not cool at all. They have my sympathy and I hope the girls can get over the trauma they were subjected to.

My mind is still reeling from reading this.

OMG... Just to clarify location, this happened on highway 3 somewhere between Mayan Palace and La Y Griega??? Were they heading N-NW toward Puerto Peñasco or S-SE toward Desemboque/Lobos?

We live in Nogales and usually take a US-based route up through Tucson/Sells/Why/Lukeville, but we have gone to PP via Mexico (SantaAna/Altar/Caborca/Y Griega) MANY times. Our main concern has always been the road condition and lack of shoulder to pull over rather than any potential violence. But my God if true, that would make me think VERY hard about ever taking that route again....
