I never mentioned anything about your "pier" before today, but it would be interesting to know if there's going to be a pier at the end of the Jetty or will it just be a kind of breakwater with a road on top.

Without doing any research, I had a hunch that 500k number was BS. Now I'm certain... The cruise terminal in Los Angeles is barely over 500k passengers per year right now, San Diego half that. And RP is going to hit half a million? The real question should be, how much will it cost to tear the thing down once the cruise lines don't show up?

why don't some of you put down the viagra that is causing the excitement and see what actually happens. If the place implodes, just save your comments for the "I told you thread". If the place takes off, then the other half should create their own "I told you thread". Who gives a fuk what some political person said about what it is expected to do, some of you act like you have never heard of a politician or business interest showing their 'high cap' projections. Lets just see the damn thing get built and comment on the progress, inconvenience, suprises, etc as they actually happen rather than dreaming about events 5 years down the road.

The Whales will suffer ....Just got the rundown from unnamed local environmentalists ( fear payback) who believes this will be blow to the Sea of Cortez and will effect the beach and tidal pools on Sandy beach
Here is some factual information that'll make you cringe. The below excerpts were sourced from Oceana.org's U.S. Laws and Regulations, and illustrate just how loose environmental regulations on cruise ships are:

"The average cruise ship with 3000 passengers and crew generates about 30,000 gallons of human waste and 255,000 gallons of non-sewage gray water every day.

"Cruise ships are allowed to release treated sewage almost anywhere they sail. They are also permitted to release untreated gray water - non-sewage wastewater from galleys, dishwashers, baths, sinks, showers, and laundries - anywhere they sail, except Alaska.

"Cruise ships can also lawfully release untreated sewage, or black water, anywhere beyond three miles from the shore (except in vervain areas of Alaska).
I share your concerns about this. Besides the beach and tide pools, what about that rocky reef area in front of Sandy Beach that has so much ecological importance? What about the Estero La Cholla? Where is CEDO?

I assume a book size study/report was conducted by cedo and other environmental groups. Mexico is not as third world as some think. Maybe adjustments had to be made by the port to meet these studies. Remember how nothing was happening for a couple of years, do we think they were just standing around doing nothing? Like most projects of this magnitude, studies and reports and adjustments are being made by various parties. Yes, I agree that it no way is this great for the environment (but neither is a car, plane, trane or anything made of plastic). So I hope (really hope) that enough is being done to minimize any damage (in business that is the best outcome when something is going to be built regardless).

The best part is and I hope EVERYONE reads this. Those of you who support no cartel, no drugs in RP, also support the home port. Do you think there is going to be less drugs or more drugs in RP when the cruise ships come? Good bye RP that I've known for 16 years and hello to a whole new cesspool of drugs, prostitution, pick pockets, no parking spots, 30 minute drives from the Malecon to Cholla Bay. FML SMH

26 trucks on Friday went to the Quarry over 50 trucks but some kind of strike all trucks sitting. This morning looks like they have a better handle on production turn around for dump time I have a neat program to estimate time and haul factor I will post later, but all and all I,m impressed with the progress they have made. I must say I,m not a fan of this project! Only time will tell let us hope for the best

I will be curious how the jetty/pier will effect the movement/build up/erosion of sand along Sandy Beach (if any).

They are really going at it. Pretty impressive. Glad Wrecked at the Reef remains open. I'm hoping for the best, but if this whole thing turns out to be a big net loss there's always the South beaches.... (Which could use a good bar or two!)

I am hoping that it will deposit all the sand at Pinto Point.

If I give up my morning shake of Viagra, Adderall, Green coffee bean extract, ExtenZe, Prozac and Testosterone I would not want to live through what actually happens ....:)
