Yellowtail catch in Lobos

Shame none of the big boys seem to be around. You haven't tangled with a fish until you get a 25-30 lb. yellowtail on the other end of the line. Still, lots of good eating right there! The first time I met Tom was at night after fishing, in the bone yard out back with a blazing fire going. The bone yard is a spooky place at first!

Glad you got on 'em!

According to Tom the bigger YTs show up in May. The biggest one I caught was 7 lbs. and, as you say, quite the fighter although the fight was brief. We had some seals hanging out at a distance and for some reason, every time had a fish on the line they made a bee-line for us so I had to not only fight the fish but reel in like a madman and basically power the fish on board with none of the usual opportunity to tire them out at first.

I did have a hell of a fight with the one I have on in my right hand on this photo though:

You don't even notice the bone yard after the second or third beer!
