I suggest aht the forum not participate in promoting this until it's a bit clearer. Would be fab if it would happen but there is no evidence that it will. Wait till we see a llist of performers tht can be verified. It would look real bad for Penasco if this is actually a scam.
I vote we erase the promo postings, or attach qualifiers some how. Could invite the promoter to come on board to help out.

The first poster that was put out by Bob and that bunch about their big sprint car race was like this in the respect that I knew the cars and drivers in that first poster had prier races scheduled with no chance of them leaving that sanctioning body to race in Mexico. When I let them know I knew those pictures were of cars and drivers that could not possibly be at their event, they changed not only the poster, but put cars on it without their numbers showing.LOL
Also of the 2 sprint cars that did eventually show up, one driver owner Bobby Marcum for all practical purpose is retired, and Zach Sawyers folks who's young son Zach was there with his car for the second fiasco have had a place in Cholla Bay for some time. The Sawyers told me that they had a great time fooling around with Bobby in the sand pit.

Anyway that website is only for booking a room or tent, it is not in charge of the booking arrangements for the bands that is up to Tony Miza person in charge.

Rosie you got the press release the same as I did you know what was in the press release. The other that was posted was not a press release it was preliminary and not for release. I have not gotten any new news as of yet so .....but thanks for daring to wonder

Vintage car and motorcycle show, YEA NO CHANCE IN HELL! Nobody in their right mind would bring a classic or vintage car/motorcycle to THE SAND pit. NO CHANCE IN HELL. That right there should tell you that this whole thing is a joke! I like how I told the forum and Russ about the Roger Clyne concert thats happening in two weeks at Wrecked and Russ said, I haven't heard anything I cant say but Russ springs out of his recliner to post about BOOMERFEST which happens to be some MIND F#CK to make all you BOOMS salivate hard. I posted an event that was actually happening and Russ denounced me and this is event is so outrageously overdone and not even close to set in stone and Russ posts it on here. I agree with ROBERTO, we need this off of our FORUM IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!

Actually there is a motorcycle collector living in Las Conchas, him and his buddies have quite a few, They are the same people that started the harley run in November, they also go to other cities in Mexico, they also have a run to Agua Prieta that was introduced by them. Tranquillo.....

Roberto, I'm kind of in favor or maintaining the dialogue so we keep abreast of what's going on.
This current spate of information isn't so much promoting the event as it is promoting the questions that should be asked of anyone trying to sell this community a bill of goods. I was at the famous press conference, and what I heard wasn't exactly the way it was later reported. Within an hour, I'd google-d as many of them as possible. Some, such as Ignatius Jones, seem to be the real deal. I suspect there were potential pidgeons on both sides that day...and one ringleader: Henry Altman.
If they manage to bring any acts and any people, they'll be appreciated, but my BS meter goes off any time someone mentions this event.

Some press releases are from news sources, but there are many that are no more than advertising made to look like news. There are 'press release services'. For an annual or monthly fee they'll take whatever you want to say about your service, business or event...or even about yourself...and make it look like a press release, then send it out to tons of publications to which they have access. When those publications need content, they take from those releases.
I understand your point that the 'preliminary' might not be accurate, but I don't put much faith in the later one either. That's why I don't see any harm in Brian re-publishing it. I know this forum, and if there are indescrepancies, one of these eagle eyes will catch it. That's why I'm okay with this thread continuing.
Frankly Russ, absolutely nothing has been published yet of any substance, anyway, so what's the diff?

You know me Rosie, and this deal hasn't smelled good from the get go, and I'm not the only one who's caught a whiff of BS, and from the start. Lets just hope they pull something off that's going to be a + for PP though, we've had to many let downs already.

I'm vice-president for tourism of our local chamber of commerce here, CANACO. At the last meeting we discussed the worst that could happen if this turns out to be the mess some of us are suspecting. The worse thing is that when someone finally does come down wanting to do a good and legitimate thing, no one will believe it or want to sponsor it.
And if I'm right and some of the people on that organizing committee are being taken for a ride, then it means they're currently willing to invest in something here and yet they'll soon regret having ever heard of Penasco.
On the other hand...what if Altman pulls this off? I'll not only want to be there, but I'll try to peddle insurance to those coming down for the concert. Ask me if I'm holding my breath, though.
