We came back yesterday (Tuesday) and the Mexican Federales were searching about every 3rd vehicle coming back into the states. They were having everyone exit their vehicles and they were pulling everything out. Fortunately, we got lucky and were waved through. Not sure what was going on.

Anywhere up and down Sandy Beach is great for Jet Skis (Wave Runners) rentals, banana boat rides etc. Everyone I have ever rented from (10+ times per season over the last 15 years of going there) speaks pretty good English. "Cuánto cuesta" means "How much?" And "demasiado" means "Too much"...

Thanks for the replies. Yes, we are staying in Rocky Point for 5 days (Sandy Beach) and I thought I would spend one day on a fishing trip. I checked with both Santiago's and Del Mar Charters...expensive! Wow. They want close to $300 for 4 people for a 6 hour trip. I gather that you get to keep...

Can anyone recommend a reputable company that takes folks out on fishing excursions? Family of four that has never been, but not sure who to go with. I have heard of Santiago Ocean Services and I think Del Mar Charters, but know nothing about them. Thx!

Check with your auto insurance before buying Mexican insurance. I have USAA, and my policy completely covers me up to 75 miles into Mexico. PP is only about 60 miles from the border.

Next time call his bluff. If it happens again, tell him you'd like to just go to the police station so you can get a receipt for the ticket. He will simply send you on your way without a fine. It's happened to me many times going through Sonoyta...
