Good stuff Jungle Jim. Keep that info comin. People would be shocked how many big fish are available in the shallow rocks around cholla, even when there are nets all around. They catch very few quality fish in those nets. Ric

Hey Mexico Joe, Don't let all the nets and downer reports get you down. The fishing is not as good as it used to be but it is still very good with lots of opportunity for nice fish close to shore so keep at it!!

Caught it on a scampi jig.............i love it! Way to do it old school style. As far as fighting belts go, i always say to skip them. I have seen more grouper lost in the second or so it takes to stop and get the rod in place than from any other cause. Either take the bruise but get the fish...

you do not need a calm period to fish from shore. in fact, it is often best when the water is rough if you can find a spot that is fishable and your tackle is appropriate to cast some distance into the wind and past the breakers. Ric
