thanksgiving - time to gather

Hi, I stopped by to see Ink and Alicia on my way down to Jerry's on the 4th and I can tell you there will be no playing on the sun deck unless you have a death wish. Even when it was in good repair the steepness of the stairs would scare some people from going up and if they did go up it would take a safety harness and a couple of stiff drinks to get them down. Other than that, I think it will be a swell place for a gathering. It could be a good place to hide though.. :D and maybe better sleeping than under it.. I don't think I'll be considered trailer trash if I do, right??

Yes, as of right now I'll be coming down. Thanks to Chuck and some of my other friends it's become a regular part of my Thanksgiving the last few years.
Yep Jerry gave you the thumbs up but he said to be careful when you are approached from the side or rear, he said to shuffle your feet..

OK, I made that last part up :D

Kenny,
Will this make four years in a row? I don't have any family coming down this year...

it'll be great to meet everyone - we've been down to RP for 4 of the last 5 years for Thanksgiving I think - always at PDO or hanging with friends at the Mirador when they had the trailers and 4 beachfront units.
who knows - we probably have seen each other on the beach before.
looking forward to it more than ever. If I remember the right - the duty-free store is open on holidays, right?

This will be the third time and it should have been your Dad coming down because it was your Mothers turn last year. You don't mean that Val's not coming down do you?

Dad has other plans and Mom wants to cook for my brother. His wife works retail and can't get off work. I'll have Val and Angel with me.

gettin closer - 3 weeks from today.
rv getting new front rotors, master cylinder and the works, a/c being checked, and a general run-thru - should be back this weekend ready to roll. Now wondering about our contribution to the menu, would some homemade pico de gallo (mild and spicy), and a batch of homemade guacamole with chips be a good start to go with the pomegranite margaritas?

Talking to Chuck this past weekend at RP, of course, we, Alicia and I, will be bringing home made mash potatoes and Peruvian turkey stuffing, better than excelent!! and we are going to need to get peanut oil for the turkeys, anybody wants to go 50/50 with us on it? I know that Costco has it here in Tucson, I am sure that they have it also up in Phoenix metro.

I picked up a 11lb and a 13lb turkey today. Just the right size for deep frying :chef:

Chuck ,
Even under the new Socialist Obama administration you are not allowed to "pick up" hams at Frys you must still pay. I have heard through my sources that in this amazing new, happier America we will be free to bring Ham back across the border.

how much oil is needed? we're willing to split the costs - should we bring cash, or bring oil?
let me know - we can do either.
2 weeks from today - it'll be time for food, fun, friends and laughs -
how sweet it is!

You'll be a little shocked when you go looking.....CostCo was $48 for a 35 lb jug and SamsClub is $55.....last year I bought it for about $28. Not sure if the jub(in a box) is a bit larger then last year....

from the Costco website -
Kirkland Signature
Peanut Oil
35 lbs
Item # 71013
$53.32

Not sure what peanut oil weighs - 7-8 lb/gal? just a guess.
have not gone to store to see price in person - or check availability.
Teri and I are willing to contribute....

WOW...I called our friends at Walmart and they have Crisco pure peanut oil for $42.00. That's still almost twice what I'm used to paying.
Kenny, did you buy it last year?

No, I brought oil for the Shrimp and some odds and ends last year. Your Mother cooked the Turkey in her trailer and Ric and his wife brought a bunch of food as well. Of course you had somthing, I can't remember except we filled up the big table with food... The last time you deep fried was when your Dad and his family were down.
I'm still working some things out and if I can't make it for Thanksgiving, I'm going to try and get down for the weekend and Monday.
