Real Italian - not foo foo - just the basics - my friend thought it was the best bolognese sauce he's had.

    Golfing in P.P.

I shot my typical mid 90's (that is the indication of my score) - the price was $85.00 per person - i saw someone had posted about the $55.00 but it was $85.00. Up until 9/30/10 they had 2x1 but as i played 10/2 - i was $85.00. Maybe you get a deal if you are staying at the Mayan or have some...

    Mar Blu

We ate at Mare Blue this past Friday - the 1st. The food was great as was the restaurant. I had been there when the Reef was open, and although i like the food then, i thought it was very pricey. The prices at Mare Blue are reasonable - a little more upscale than most places in Puerto...

    Golfing in P.P.

Here is the report - We only played at the Mayan Palace Peninsula de Cortes as we decided to hang out on the beach for the rest of the time. Simply put - the nicest course i think i've ever played. The condition of the course was amazing. There were maybe only a dozen or so people playing the...

Is it possible to buy a house in RP, for less then $75,000.00 not on the beach?

You can also go to the website penasco.com - they have MLS listed there and i think you can narrow your criteria.

    Golfing in P.P.

I will get a report up after the weekend. I play regularly up here in Phoenix, but i stink - just like to get out and play. The guy i'm playing with is a great golfer - very low handicap - so he will be the real judge. I just hope there is a little breeze because it's still scorching in...

    Golfing in P.P.

Going down this weekend and going to play golf at the Mayan Palace - has anyone played there before - how is it? Also, we might try either Las Palomas or Laguna Del Mar to play at - any opinions? - I understand that Laguna Del Mar only has 9 holes so you basically play those twice - I've seen...

    Coffe Haus

    Mickey's Place...

I just received my Las Conchas newsletter and it indicated that Mickey's Place has closed. Too bad, because the prices were great and the food was excellent. Plus the restaurant was in a nice clean location.

Article from Defrente Newspaper July 7, 2010

I don't think this is surprising either. Penasco is simply to close to the border not to be effected - plus, because of its growth, its ideal to attract dirty money that can be laundered and invested. I just hope that only one strong faction ends up in control - as sad as that is, at least...

    Need help asap!!!!!

Rosie, thanks so much for the info. I obviously did not know any of the details you posted. I feel a little dumb about the $1,000.00 now, knowing it was used to pay for a fine and get her "friend" out of custody rather than a shakedown. My guess is she is embarrassed and didn't want to tell me...

    Need help asap!!!!!

As a home owner in Las Conchas I agree that the security really doesn't do much except maybe deter a little, chase of atv's and fireworks - however, i still feel some level of comfort having them there. I do agree that they should do a better job of checking vehicles coming in and out.

    Need help asap!!!!!

Update - My secretary has spoken with Rosie who is assisting in getting the car released. Apparently, my secreatary already gave the clerk $1,000.00 US cash - she doesn't have a receipt and therefore that money is all but gone. Rosie has arranged the impound fee and hopefully the car will be...

    Need help asap!!!!!

My secretary was down in RP this weekend. Her car was stolen from in front of the condo complex she was staying in in Las Concahs on Saturday. The vehicle was recovered in Sonoyta at a checkpoint and returned to R.P. However, the police are refusing to release the vehicle back to her without...

Cartel Shootout - Sounds like it was Southwest of Nogales

So I watched to national news reports this morning on the shootout. First MSNBC talked about it and how it was close to the Arizona border. They put a general map of the southwest up and the only city labled was Hermosillo - the dumb anchor then says you can see how close the shooting was to...

How does everyone TRULY feel about traveling to PP?

I too saw the police convoy in town on Sunday. They were police trucks with the "PEI" emblem i believe - there were about 8 with their lights on turning from Sinaloa street onto Freemont heading East.

How does everyone TRULY feel about traveling to PP?

I completely agree with your feelings. I have been coming down for about 10 years and only in the recent past has there been a little apprehension between Sonoyta and PP. HOwever, i also don't have a problem with any checkpoints as they add a level of comfort knowing at least they are watching...

The way it used to be and the way it should be

Nice pic. Unfortunately, Arizona has officially taken over as the new standard bearer for the Old Confederacy and Sonora is devolving into Columbia circa 1985.

    Jeep cherokees in r.p.

So after all the chaos the last couple of weeks and the fact that Jeep Cherokees seem to be the vehicles of choice for gunmen, we made it a point this past weekend to look out for Jeep Cherokees. To our amazement, there seems to be a ton per capita in RP and Sonoyta. I don't know if that means...
